Google Pay And Monzo/Revolut

Anybody else having/had issues with using Google Pay with having Revolut or Monzo as the card behind it? Went out this morning and used Nero app for coffee and that went through fine, tried to buy a small item, £2.50, on Google Pay with Monzo in Wilkinsons and got error message saying card not supported so used old skool cash, then tried in another shop a few minutes later with Monzo and Revolut and had the same message.

Monzo weren't that helpful on their chat. Have removed cards and added them again with no problem but when I tried again to buy something on GooglePay it was refused and the physical card was refused to and had to use Chip n Pin which I understand is a new security feature for contactless, tried in another shop and Google Pay wouldn't work but the card did this time.
Will see what happens tomorrow.

They used to both use GPS to process their card payments - not sure if this is still the case with Monzo.

Do you have any cards with other providers to compare with?

Only other card is a basic debit card that doesn't work on Google Pay.

After the issues I had on Sunday I tried Samsung Pay and both my Revolut and Monzo cards said were refused but I removed both cards from Google Pay and added them again which worked on Monday morning so it might have been a Google Pay issue on Sunday or the cards, either way the matter seems to have been resolved. :T

Have you tried another account provider?

Nationwide Basic has contactless and GPay/ Samsung pay.
