YELL Reviews - do not trust

Options
I published a poor review on Yell. The company it concerned complained and the review was removed. I complained and justified the review so Yell reinstated it. About a month later it disappeared again. I complained again and after two weeks Yell sent me an unsatisfactory reply saying my review breached their policy. Obvious nonsense as already reinstated once after justification.
The point of a review system is a balanced view to forewarn people. If justified poor reviews are suppressed the review system is not credible.
Apparently another biased review system that cannot be trusted!

I had a similar experience with Yell a couple of years ago.

In my case the organisation concerned falsely claimed to Yell that I wan not actually a client. As I had left the exact same review elsewhere and the organisation had replied to it in some detail, that was fairly conclusive proof that they were lying!

When I sent evidence to Yell they reinstated the review but within a couple of days the organisation exercised their "right" to opt out of all Yell reviews so it disappeared again. Apparently if they ever opt back in on Yell my review will reappear.

However, the whole saga was useful evidence when I complained to the organisation's professional body!!

As an aside, there is a huge online remaindered bookseller that uses a variety of trading names and appear to encourage Trustpilot reviews. However if you write anything negative they complain to Trustpilot, again claiming you were not a customer. If you can be bothered and send TP evidence the review does get reinstated.

However I think the bookseller just relies on the fact that most customers won't bother to argue their case and that most negative reviews get deleted.
