Buying grass verge

So, did you install a dropped kerb? I thought householders were not allowed to do this - the council has to do it (usually £1k-£2k).
Yes we dropped the kerb as well. We just had to use a contractor with the appropriate license (liability insurance) to do the dropped kerb and cross over. There are loads who do it round our way. These were two separate licenses- dropped kerb was under £200, and cross over as said was about £460.0 -
That's great to here thanks. I was on the council website yesterday and found a fair bit of info, I think we will be able to do it but cant apply until we own the property. So i think we'll have to cross that bridge when we come to it.:)0

It might be a case of getting an easement over the grass verge rather than buying a piece of it. That means that the Council still owns it, but you are legally entitled to drive over it.0

Just re-read my emails - it was a section 171 license that granted our contractors permission to build on the verge. They had to apply; I paid the license fee.0
