Car mechanic liability

Options
Hi
My car had a problem and most of the local garages who did the scan diagnosed a problem, could not take up the job for another week or so.Approached an online Mechanic provider website and explained the job. They gave me a quote and then recommended a mobile mechanic in the area for the repair job.
It was meant to be 2-3 hour job,but after car was returned the car and payment made ,it showed same fault very next day.It also looks like one of the sensor cables were broken during repair work.
After great persuassion he came back to look at the car and tried to fix the cable, but moment car goes over a bump or hole the car goes back into limp mode and engine light comes on.
Car was taken back by mechanic and has been with him for 10 days.He gives promises of returning the car repaired "next day" on a daily basis. And says he is doing me a favour by repairing the car free and making it roadworthy.

Not having a car has affected me badly over last 2 weeks as i depend on it for my work.Who is liable for the hardships and financial difficulties I am facing? The original company and/or mechanic?
Thanks

Who do you mean by "original company"? The manufacturer? The dealer you bought it from? How old is it, and how long have you had it?

But, no, there's nobody who's liable for inconvenience. Nobody at all. Except yourself for not sorting alternative transport.

By the somewhat limited description of the problem, you've simply got an intermittent wiring problem that's exacerbated by vibration - you need a good autoelectrician.

    Don't you think YOU ARE?
The other garages couldn't do the work for a week, so you'd have been without the vehicle anyways. I couldn't believe that you don't have friends or associates that have good experiences of other auto technicians for you to try.
At present you don't have a running vehicle, so that is the priority isn't it?

Did he break it or just disturbed a part that was starting to fail anyway?

Brittle pipes and wires are a common issue as cars get older, and some not so old cars also occasionally.

Thought the idea behind a mobile mechanic was they come to you and did work there. NOT take the car way.

Sadly the mechanic is not liable for you not having a car. That is down to you.
