Oxfam won't leave me alone

In July after I moved house I finally got around to sorting out all my various bits of mail. So I told all mailing organisations either to stop contacting me or gave them my new address.
Anyway I asked Oxfam to stop mailing me using the Data Protection Act and they agreed to do so within 3 months.
Today again I got another letter from them so now I have written to them threatening to report them to the Information Commissioner if I receive anymore mail after a month.
Why is it so hard for a charity to realise that mailing people who don't want it just upsets them and makes them more inclined NOT to donate ever to that charity?

And what are you going to report them for? Just out of interest.0

Breach of the Data Protection Act.
My requests where made under the Data Protection Act to stop processing my personal data.
I've used this successfully against other companies who had me on their mailing list. Even if you are a customer you can request that a company stops sending you advertising material as their are various acts that cover this.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Is it worth the energy?0

Whats the point unless it's an excuse to try and throw your weight around?
Whats wrong with just putting it in a bin?0 -
From a reading of your post it would seem you have only had one letter from them, something which you classify as them "not leaving you alone". Perhaps if you had been getting a letter every other day for three months I could see you point but, seriously, one letter and you're thinking of reporting them to the Information Commissioner?
You must be a VERY sensitive person if getting a letter from Oxfam through the door 'upsets' you.0 -
I cant see what its got to to with the Data Protection Act. It's not as if they are giving your information out to others.
I sponsored a Donkey as an xmas gift for my neices a few years ago.
I get Oxfam junk mail about once every two months. It goes straight in the bin along with all the other junk mail.
Doesn't bother me, perhaps I go out more.0 -
Had a similar problem with Oxfam when I made a donation via their website. I thought that I requested no further contact.
Their contacts can include the silent phone calls. I was told by the telesales person that as a charity they were exempt from TPS. I wasn't very polite, but have had no further telephone calls. I did say I would never use Oxfam again,
The post has stopped and I put the emails on the blocked senders list.
Makes me wonder how much of our donations goes on this type of activity and whether it is cost effective. They are known for having high administrative costs.'You can't change the past, you can only change the future' Gary Boulet.

They've sent you one letter and you consider that to be not leaving you alone and its upsetting you!!? Sounds to me like you have a little too much time on your hands.0

This isn't a normal way to act. The behavioral attitude of the op is like that of "short man syndrome"
Now that doesn't mean that the op is short, tall people can act like this, but thats the name of the way of the behavior.
It's just probably down to some insecurity.
Just put it in a bin and be normal!0 -
