Car Insurance Non payment Cancenlled

Hi Everyone,
Im sorry for my English but I hope there anyone can help me out with this as im so lost after my car insurance cancelled by my insurer. Im a first driver
My situation is on 2/11 a payment was missed, Admiral sent me a letter/email said that they will retake payment in 10 days
19/11 they took payment but my bank automatically get back the money. I contacted them on the same day to ask them if I could make a payment because i dont want to missed a payment,
they told me they cant, I have to wait till it clear out first
after that i didnt receive any email or letter from them untill 18/12 they took nearly 2k from my bank account.
I contacted them and they said my insurance already cancelled on the 5/12 for non payment, they did sent me a letter on 21/12 to ask for a full payment before 02/12 ( 14 days noticed). I did explain I didnt receive anything ( email, letter etc..) If I know I would have contact them early to sort it out.
there is no evidence that they are in the wrong possition.
I dont really know what to do at the moment and hope anyone can give a some advices to deal with this.
My new policy going to be 6k after this and I have to sell me car if I cant get this sort out.
