Lloyds Bank Switch Issue

Hello,

I just wondered if anyone has experienced any issues switching to Lloyds Bank recently?

I switched my account from first direct to Lloyds in October for the £125 Club Lloyds offer. Initially when my account was opened, my address was showing correctly.

However upon the switch completing, the format of my address changed. Basically my flat number moved from in front of the block name, to in front of the street. The address on my Halifax mortgage also changed in the same way.

I called Lloyds who apologised and couldn't explain 100% how it had happened, but they thought it was possibly Halifax keying in my address wrong (who I have my mortgage with) when they changed my direct debit details to the Lloyds account. As they are part of the same banking group the address details are shared between the two.

I have since applied for a credit card with them and then a few days later have noticed my address has changed back again to the incorrect format. Also my home number was now showing a Canadian country code instead of UK! I've called them again today, they've changed my address back but still couldn't explain what has happened. Then to make matters worse I see they had changed my mobile number incorrectly, so in the end I went on the app and found I could do that myself.

I'm a little worried about the address changing twice now. As my flat number is being placed in front of the street name instead of the block, there is a risk correspondence could be sent to a different property in my road.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had any issues? Kinda regretting switching from first direct now.

Thanks :-)

Love that they blame Halifax for the 1st address change due to DD on mortgage...
Why would Halifax even touch the address, all they would change would be the sort/account no and that would only be on Halifax system & not Lloyds.

Not the way their system shows a flat address?
Take it all paperwork comes out OK?

Biggest worry will be if you buy something online and they do a address check. Could well come up as miss-match and cause retailer or bank to decline transaction.

    Thanks for your reply. :-)

Yes I have to say I was a bit dubious about them blaming Halifax Mortgages when they said it.

When I applied for the current account the address came up fine and it was showing on letters, mobile and internet banking correctly. Then suddenly I had a letter from Lloyds with the address in the incorrect format and saw it had also been changed on mobile and internet banking as well.

So it seems the letters can get to me with the incorrect format, but there is always the risk that it could go to the other property in the road.

I was thinking about the address not matching on payments as well. Indeed the way the advisor has "corrected" the address this time is different again, with the flat number, block and street address all on the same line.

He said keep an eye on it and if it happens again they will need to launch an "internal investigation".

I was thinking of opening the Club Lloyds Monthly Saver, but no doubt when I do that the address will flip back again.

Could just be part of the company uses a bad postcode/no look up database.

99% of companies insist the first word of my street name is two words not one. I let that one pass though.

60% of companies insist I am in West Yorkshire due to having a Leeds post code. Sorry, no North Yorkshire. I know who I pay my council tax to!

Not that is has caused me any problems.

Yes I think it could be something to do with that, I am unable to get a home insurance quote from Lloyds or Halifax online either as my address isn't listed. For some reason they show only the first 9 flats in my block (in a strange format) but not mine.

I have products with other banks and have never come across this issue before. Guess I'm just going to need to keep an eye on it.

A quick update on this, I viewed my Lloyds Bank Credit Card statement online yesterday and sure enough my address has flipped back to the incorrect format again. I checked my Halifax credit card and the same has happened there.

I've phoned Lloyds again and had to register a complaint as they don't know why it is happening and I've now had to call 3 times. They said they use lots of different systems and if one is wrong sometimes it will keep affecting the others. They have amended the address again in the meantime.

I phoned Halifax today and they confirmed the addresses were now correct their end, but said their systems are completely separate to Lloyds and they only share systems with Bank of Scotland. Seems funny to me that whenever a change is made on Lloyds it also reflects on Halifax though. The advisor just said - oh well I don't know then I'm afraid.

Really regretting moving from first direct now.
