Ive been given £90 to buy a coat with. I need a coat, that is fairly warm and will keep me dry as i do a lot of walking in the bad weather. Any ideas where i can start looking?

  • I'd go to Primark, buy one for £30 and spend the rest on chocolate ;)

  • I bought a lovely coat from Next Clearance Store. It was £35 instead of £125. Its totally lined in fake fur and keeps me toasty warm.

Or how about TK Maxx? I wouldnt spend the whole £90 on just the coat, you could spend the rest on a hat, scarf and gloves.

unfortunately i have been told that what money is left over he wants back (tightfisted git!!). I do have a TK max near me but when every i go they dont do much in a size 14 upwards. My daughter gets some great bargains out of there but then shes a size 6-8. the Next sale is a possibility thanks.

    Hello Judi

I know you want a coat but there are some long length jackets in mountaineering/camping stores which are waterproof..........would that be suitable? There are layered jackets too, with an inside fleece which can be detatched if it gets too warm.

Most outlet villages have these types of stores and their prices are excellent.

Of course, if you want a posh coat then I'm not helping much. ::)

Nile i think you have hit the nail on the head there. I would love a proper coat, but a woolen coat isnt going to be practical if it gets wet too often, plus they are heavy. I am now browsing though a few outdoor clothing sites, however a lot of the coats are just jackets. I am in need of something that covers me down to me knees at least.

Why stop there, if i bought myself some thigh length leather boots i would be protected from the toes up. ;D ;D ;D
I've found one for £70 but its not very feminine. Hmm will sit on the idea for a while longer.

    Judi,
    Have you tried H&M ?

I brought a lovely tweedy type long black and white jacket there at the weekend for £50 and it sounds horrid but it's gorgeous.
