Recently a good friend of mine died suddenly and his widow is left alone in a large house they had renovated

Unfortunately, it was the husband sorted all the bills and she is totally ignorant on the energy market, and having reported his death is now on EDF's variable tariff

This house has a full ground source heat pump system for both hot water & heating, and past bills show it consumes 15,700 Kwh a year ! - For which she is now paying 18.2p per Kwh

An online search shows EDF have a May 21v2 tariff at 13,98p per Kwh, but it is available only to "A closed customer group"

Spent an afternoon searching every Comp site I can think of to find it, but without success - Is there anyone out there who knows who is carrying this offer ?

It might be only available if you phone them.

But first use a comparison site for that consumption to see if there is something better.

Yup - Tried Moneysupermarket - Confused - Gocompare - Compare the market - Which - Cit Advice with no luck

I can get better prices from the new boys, but the failure rate is high and I don't want this uneducated lady involved in an insolvency switch.

The history of this house is that it didn't have a power supply till the new owners took over, EDF ran the supply cables and fitted a Smet 1 Smart meter in the garage which is 150m away from the house and 10' off the floor - Try reading that on a Winters day

Against that, the Remote Reader is the best one I've ever seen - Mains powered with options that work and an exact reading in Kwh of the meters read
For this reason I like to keep EDF as the supplier, if I can do so at a reasonable price

    Then ring EDF and ask

PS EDF probably won't speak to you as you're not the account holder. Has the account been transferred to your friend by the executors - if so put her on the phone first.

Last time I rang EDF, their response was that I could only have the tariffs on their web site. The phone call achieved nothing.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

If you are referring to EDF Easy Online May21v2 or EDF Simply Online May21v2, they were removed from sale to new applicants over 2 months ago.

If you meant EDF Together Online May21v2, that is dual fuel only

I would also advise that you consult a couple of comparison site to find the best deal currently available.

If you wish to remain with EDF, then perhaps look at EDF Simply Online 1 Year Fix Jan21v3 which was launched yesterday :)
That could cost almost £200 per year more than expected, but money doesn't seem to be the driving factor here, as you seem prepared to make the widow of your late good friend to pay about £250 per year more than necessary anyway.

Thanks DawnCrush -YES It is the May 21v2 tariff, ( 13.98p per Kwh & 20.45p SC), that I was looking for, which I found on the EDF site yesterday morning heading up the list of all their tariffs !
