Changing energy supplier and economy 7
Hello all,
I went on a comparison website to see if I could bring my electricity down as I am currently with EON and Bulb are nearly £15 cheaper.
I rang my landlord as I have to get approval according to my rental agreement and he is happy that I do but said I would lose my economy 7.
I thought that would be factored in on the comparison website as you have to put your plan and expected year KWH usage to get the final costings.
Is there anyone that is savvy with these types of things?
I currently pay £49/month with EON and Bulb comes in at £36/month.
Thanks in advance.

Baffling why he should say you would lose Eco 7..Perhaps he is not aware that Bulb are one of the lowest priced Eco 7 suppliers with a good customer service rating ..Symbio are even cheaper than Bulb by the way on a fixed yearly tariff rather than Bulbs variable one .
All electric properties are usually on Eco 7 unless he wants to install GCH
If it is in the rental agreement that you need approval to switch supplier then I think its up to the landlords discretion..He may have very good reason and a history of bad tenants leaving him to sort out debts especially on credit meters.0 -

As you pay your energy bills directly, you don't need your landlord's permission to switch. However, you should tell your landlord or letting agent, and you may have to return the account to the original supplier at the end of your tenancy.

Forget DD amounts, work on annual kWh usage based on actual meter readings. Ignore claimed savings, Ofgem's crazy rules mean savings are often imaginary, just do the sums yourself.
Beware of suppliers' sites such as British Gas and many others that give fake so-called quotations for E7. They ask only for total annual usage, not separate day and night figures, and assume a large percentage is used at night. If this isn't the case then you will be overcharged. Ofgem has known about this for more than three years but, predictably, has done absolutely nothing. Always check the sums yourself when getting E7 quotations.
There's no reason why you should lose your E7. Get quotations for single rate as well, many suppliers will happily just add the two readings together. If you have gas, get quotations for dual fuel and single suppliers. If you have an immersion heater, make sure it's not on a 24 hour supply.0 -

Thanks. I have used my KWH usage and not my monthly figures as I wouldn't let EON increase when they wanted to as I would always end up being owed money and it would take forever to get it back. Funny how fast they want to take but how slow to send back.
I only have electricity and have gone on a few sites and bulb seems to come out on top on all of them for my area.
Hopefully it all ends well!__________________________

Bulb came out on top in my area.
..I would nt rule out Bulb though..They are a very fair supplier who will pay your exit fees and also £50 for each new customer you refer them to..In my year with them I made £100 referral fees to friends which made them the cheapest supplier for me that year
I m with Symbio myself at the moment who appear to operate a good website and I have no issues .But judging how many suppliers have gone bust over the last two years going for the rock bottom cheapest it may end up with being switched to SOLR !0 -
EnergyTwist wrote: »As I suspected, you are indeed missing something. There appears to be more than a dozen cheaper tariffs than Bulb, from a range of suppliers.
Based on E7, Symbio appear to be the cheapest at £476.83 a year (£39.74 a month)0 -
