Help with CC Payment!

in Credit cards
I am lost and confused right now - help appreciated.
Ive set my CC up for min payment each month so i get green ticks and dot forget to miss payments. But in reality i then make manual payments and clear it in full. Dont ask me why i do this method, it maybe silly but i may need to change it.
Ive only had my CC for two months. So the first DD came out on 5th st Dec - min amount paid. CC came around Nov 1. I maxed the CC out on purchases that i knew i would be paying back in Dec in full. So i was nearly on my limit but didnt go above the limit. Dec came in and the min payment was taken out on the 5th. The next DD is on Jan 5th. So i forgot about clearing the balance and just remembered now. I logged into and it says my statement was produced (19th) now and i am over the limit, make payment now!
Devestated! I take it i am over the limit because they have added interest? I quickly made the full payment to clear everything which probabbly wont show till a few days.
My main concern is will they report my CC as being over the limit on the next credit report? I dont understand how CC work! So confusing

Something is not right here.
Things don't add up in terms of when you received the card, statement dates and direct debit dates.
A statement date of 19th of the month should not be resulting in a direct debit being taken on 5th following month.
Please clearly state the statement date and payment due date of each statement.0 -
Just had a look and first statement was start date 19th Oct - 20th Nov, Second Statement is 20th Dec.
DD taken on 6th Dec
next DD is 6th Jan
So the first statement no issues. Paid my first DD on 6th Dec. Plan was to clear the balance on 6th but forgot so logged in now to clear balance and they produced my next statement saying u are over ur limit make payment etc etc
So confused and angry!0 -
charged me a 12 pound OVERLIMIT FEE!0

In the HIGHLY UNLIKELY event that the payment due date for a statement issued on 20th November was 6th December, then if you failed to clear the statement by that date you would have been charged interest as you failed to pay in full by the due date. However there is NO UK issued credit card that I know of that has a payment due date 16 days after the statement date.0 -
i assure you its correct. I have just logged on to my AQUA account right now and copied the information i have got from there onto here.
If something is wrong, do tell me and i can make a complaint. The weird thing i have another CC that came before AQUA, a week or two and yet their min payment due date was around the 15th of Dec.0 -
if i knew how to show images on here i would take a screenshot and post it on here0

How interesting. We live and learn.
I have been looking at the summary box for the Aqua card and guess what. They only give up to 48 days interest free credit.

Very bad.
You have every right to be displeased with this. I certainly would be. I have never previously encountered such a short period and was genuinely surprised when I discovered this information.
However, it does not excuse you failing to make full payment before the payment due date and therefore you have no valid grounds for complaint.0 -
what is the normal interest free days for normal credit cards? Is 48 days too low?
In response to my original question - what will happen?0 -
Normal is 56.
You mentioned direct debit being taken on 6th with statement date of 20th.
I have 3 cards which all have approximately the same statement date of 10th 11th and 12th respectively and the normal direct debit dates are 5th for the 10th and 11th statement date cards and 6th for the 12th statement date card.
I also have a Virgin card which has a slightly shorter period but the summary boxes for their cards are now hidden behind the eligibility checker so I can't easily check and can't remember exactly how many days it is. Direct debit is 20 days after statement date.0 -
Perhaps slightly off topic but why are so many credit card providers now hiding the details of their cards behind eligibility checkers?
I was trying to see some summary boxes in relation to answering the OP's questions and kept running into the brick wall of an eligibility checker. Even Lloyds bank now appear to have joined the club along with at least Virgin. MBNA and Capital One.0
