We've been doing the same with our freezer, @Blackcats - plenty in there. Definitely need to row back on food purchases atm & get it used up.

I used to love Human League back in the day. Enjoy 😊I’m another one trying to use up freezer and store cupboard items.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

I’m really jealous of the fact you are going to see Human League, they were my favourite band. I loved their music.Though I have to confess that some how I didn’t connect that it was Phil Oakey singing with Georgio Moroder on Electric Dreams. I knew it was Phil Oakey but not that Phil Oakey. I just didn’t connect the two. It was only because DH and I are watching a series on TV where they are playing the top 30 of each year in the 80s that I actually twigged 🙄3

Well I moved the shopping day from Tuesday to Thursday. strangely it made me feel a bit uneasy and I had to keep reassuring myself that I had enough fresh fruit and vegetables although I had to buy more milk (feel like I'm living Rebecca Pearson's milk buying life 🤣). I would recommend the shopping day shift Miss Riki C and SH - it probably reinforces meal planning and cuts back on waste as well as keeping our money in our purses.I love the UFO's Lucielle!Foxgloves - it does make sense to eat from the freezer and with the inventory it does make it easier to plan. This week we will extract sausages, mash and sprouts from the depths of the freezer tardis, so that's Tuesday's dinner sorted. We had a use it up tapas last night - potatas bravas, chorizo and cannellini bean stew type dish, frittata and pil pil prawns. The prawn dish was ideal for a household so rich in prawn resources but probably wouldn't suit Cranky's posh cat.
good old Human League and THE Phil Oakey .... together in electric dreams is such a beautiful song. I saw Heaven 17 just before lockdown and I think they were once in Human League. Heaven 17 were brilliant and when they sang Temptation is was incredible. They were the support act for Squeeze but I actually thought they were better. I think squeeze were coming to the end of a long tour and whilst they sang all their hits, very well they lacked energy and enthusiasm.Juggled this month's budgets earlier - we are going out for lunch with friends this week so I will take from personal spends if it takes us over. I'm looking forward to the lunch so I'm happy to forgo some personal spends. We've got a visitor from Oz in March - it's the first time they've been able to travel because of covid restrictions so I'll need to adjust and create a good pot to enjoy our time with them.
no spend day yesterday - glorious sunshine and we took flasks of tea and coffee, a couple of biscuits and had a very long walk. Woodland Trust have planted up a large area nearby as a commemoration of the 1st World War and there's lots of interesting but sad stories of the troops who trained there. There's also a community orchard although the fruit trees are still quite small. Felt good to be out in the bright sun with no time constraints and no need to spend any money.5 -
Sounds like you are getting the balance right with budgeting and having fun. I liked Electric Dreams too.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks SH. Nice lunch out - expensive but we enjoyed the food, the company and the occasion.
I was updating my spends earlier and saw £28.60 spend at Amaz*n - I couldn't think what I'd bought so I put it against miscellaneous (such a cop out budget category). I was about to check my amaz account when a parcel crashed through the letterbox - still couldn't think what it was. Then my friend rang and said that when her parcel arrived she'd pop round to pay me. So although I got the £28.60 back I assumed I'd bought something for myself and absorb it as miscellaneous. I suppose at least I bothered to check my budget 🤷♀️I need to update grocery spends and hold myself accountable on the feb grocery challenge thread. It's a short month so I should be ok. Have used some food from the freezer and cupboards and kickstarted the month with a £10 lidlee voucher.4 -
Glad you enjoyed your meal out. I had to collect a parcel this week from the PO No idea what it was, turned out it was DD2 sending clothes back from the Falklands.
