Hi Blackcats - you sound really on it. Love the idea of having a month in hand. Once we've paid for our new chairs and bed for DS - hoping to get the EF looking healthier again.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

It's payday on Thursday and the current account looks neat (I've been rounding down any odd amounts which have added up to a nice amount that I haven't really noticed have gone from the current account). It's also quite healthy so there will be some money to move to savings,I've set myself 3 simple money related tasks to get done this week. The first one was to change council tax to paying over 10 months with the reward of 2 council tax free months in February and March. I've achieved this. 😇 I even thought about overpaying by around 10% each month to squeeze out another "free" month in January.I've partially completed the second task and not started the third yet. I had such a long "to do" list that I often lost motivation to even start any tasks so I'm hoping breaking it down into smaller chunks will help.5

Rewards work well too. There are times I want to play on my phone but I make myself do x amount of work first etc or have 5 mins in the garden - or whatever works for you. You could have a reward jar with random things you pick out with what you can do / be / have as a reward for tackllng frogsAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

It's helped just having a few things on the to do list. Not so overwhelming and tackle one task and the list is nearly done 😃.Two refunds have been paid into my account - £50 which I will add to savings. In the past I'm afraid to say that sometimes I never got around to sending unwanted items back and getting a refund. So much money wasted.Had a search around in the freezer tonight and discovered some bags of meat that will sort out dinners for next week - luckily the bags were labelled (by the butcher not by me!)5

I have been guilty of the same. Well done for overcoming it this timeAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I'm a bit irritated today as I went to m and s to collect a clothing order (I spent the last of my monthly spending allowance). I spent £25 in order to buy the beauty bag for £15. When I got home and opened the parcel it was 2 dresses 4 sizes bigger than I am, so clearly it wasn't my order. It's not the end of the world but means I'll have to drive back to the shop, park, queue outside and queue inside and avoid the temptation of the food hall Plus the poor person that goes to collect their order that I've got will have to do the same.I'm enjoying a Saturday night glass of wine and doing some crochet.A day of household chores tomorrow - some ironing, sorting, filing and shredding of a mountain of paperwork, some personal pampering time and then football to watch.4

How irritating. I would be seriously gutted too. Good luck with the rest of your weekend plans. Hope things improve.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

A nice weekend which whizzed by too quickly as usual. No ironing achieved and still some papers to shred. I can't quite get my office space organised and tidy and logical. I think getting rid of the papers that are lying around is a good place to start, however, because it frustrates me I tend to not start on it at all.I did ok with life/work balance today - stopped for lunch away from my desk and went for a nice walk at the end of the working day.No money spent today but going to L*dl tomorrow. I've done a meal plan and a list so just need to stick to it now.4

blackcats I’m a bit like that with jobs I don’t like/want to do. Love a bit of procrastination! However a few years ago I started to use a method called ‘eating a frog’ you can g00gle it as someone wrote a book/article on it. But the short version is if you had a list of things to do today and eating a frog was on the list, best thing is to do it first and get it out of the way rather than thinking about eating it all day!If you pop over to the small things thread you will often find people talking about eating frogs 🤢😉So get the paperwork off the floor and eat that frog. The day will be much better once it’s done!6
