Today's plans have been put on hold because of foul weather, however, there's plenty to do at home in the warm. I've finally finished combining 3 address books into 1. Of course I ended up with 3 address books because they were pretty, a different size etc etc - all ways in which I previously justified buying a new thing when I already had a perfectly functional thing in stock. As you can tell, there's lots of excitement in this house6

Funny you should say that, Blackcats, because I picked up a pretty address book in a shop last weekend, then had a word with myself & put it down again! My address book is perfectly pretty (kittens!) & has plenty of pages left. I had quite a few crossings out, but have now put sticky address labels over those, which is more sustainable than buying a new book. I have been an absolute horror for buying stationery in the past - a love which began in childhood when I was very often thst child in the class who had the best felt tips, coloured pencils & interesting rubbers!

Foxgloves, I would have been the child that competed with you on stationery. Did you like covering your school books in pretty wrapping paper? Hollie Hobbie etc? So much nicer than plain brown. And pencil cases and pencil tins .....
in further exciting developments at the blackcat house, I've also done the filing of household papers. I really loathe this task. In my first office job as "Girl Friday/Office Junior" it was part of my role. I'd like to confess to hiding lots of my filing in a large metal cupboard at the far end of the building. Filing couldn't compete with the giddy excitement of using the telex machine .... how technology has moved on!7 -
Lol, I quite like filing because I enjoy being organised & can't bear not being able to find documents when I need them.
Yes, I did like covering my school books in nice paper, but not Holly Hobbie because I thought she was soppy..... though bizarrely, I was OK with the very popular (at the time) 'Love is....' cartoons.

Thanks savingholmes. It doesn't take too much for me to fall out of the money saving zone and into the money spending zone. I would say that I'm now becoming consciously competent at money management which is a step up from consciously incompetent 😉
At last the rain seems to have stopped. There are some whopping great puddles on the road and my garden is a bit swampy but I know it's been very much worse for some parts of the country.
Have just enjoyed a delicious roast dinner at home with family. It was nice to be at home in the warm and I am frequently disappointed by the quality and price of pub Sunday lunches. Even my Yorkshire puddings turned out well.My work expenses have still not been paid. I chased them up last week but haven't had a reply. It's quite irritating as these were costs incurred in October/ November last year. I've got another set to submit this week.7 -
Can you use pencil in your address books then you don't have crossings out. I had a friend who was forever moving so she was in pencil

I'm sure a profiler (a spendy profiler rather than a criminal profiler) would find lots of common traits in us debt free wannabes. Starting with our school years stationery habits and continuing thereafter.6

I was thinking about flowers today .... I always treated myself to a bunch when I did the weekly shop. I took the approach of "it's only £10' or 'shopping was less than £100 😱 so I can easily afford a bunch". 'Shopping wasn't much more than £100 😱😱 so I could just treat myself'. Now I think that flowers are an occasional treat to be enjoyed rather than taken for granted. This week my 95p bunch of daffs is making me so happy 😁7
