Ooh, interesting to hear about your new system 😊 I have a good system at work, but somehow it never translates into home organisation 🙄😂 At work I have a master list, split into projects. Each week or two I put everything into an urgent/important matrix, and then plan out the next week or two, trying to make sure i make progress on the important things, not just the urgent ones.
Of course, it doesn't always work like that - new urgent things arrive all the time, sometimes the important things are so big they never quite seem to get going, but it mostly works. Don't seem to be able to make it work at home though , things are far more haphazard here!4 -
I too once had a job in a menswear department. I detested with a passion when I got asked to do inside leg measurements. Convinced half of them didn't need them....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

@savingholmes - 🤣 at the inside leg measurement awkward moments. I used to get asked what sized underpants I thought the customer needed .... and the tediousness of tidying and re-tidying scratchy nylon pants - yuk.
thank you @foxgloves. Ah yes those time management courses - I could never quite imagine saying to a boss that I wouldn't be dealing with their "other people's urgent" task as I was prioritising my important task.@Cheery_Daff - it's interesting how things we do for work don't quite move across into a home setting. I think my system is very similar to your work system. I'm still in the highly enthused phase at the moment, writing lists, colour coding, crossing out and ticking off tasks. I'm fascinated to observe myself cherry picking tasks and avoiding others. Yesterday I had a planned list and found myself considering doing the ironing or tidying up my baking drawer. Neither of these were on the day's list nor would they be something I would willing decide to do (they are on the master list though)
I dealt with an annoying financial frog today that was in danger of morphing into a giant cane toad. I could have dealt with it last week but I took umbridge about part of it and temporarily cut off my nose to spite my face. It's all done now and joyously crossed off the list.
Lovely walk in the sunshine today - it was quite warm in the sun. A nice couple of hours and we took our flasks so no money was spent.3 -
Loving the new management regime blackcats. I have a friend who is Uber organised at work but her personal life is utter chaos (in a nice way).I really need to get some me sort of household management plan in place as our house is always a mess/disgusting!1

Thanks @[Deleted User] - I might have spent a disproportionate time adding items to the list and prettifying with colouring in but I do think it's a good way forward for us.
Restaurant at home night tonight - Sangria, Tapas and cream Catalan. Mostly sourced from fridge/freezer.

Ooh sangria 😍 I’m a private office PA so spend lots of time organising other people 😬I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Thanks @Sun_Addict and @savingholmes
We had some friends stay on Friday night which was lovely. They live a fair way away so it worked well for them to arrive mid afternoon, chat, chill, have dinner at home and then leisurely breakfast and a walk before they drove home. When we were re-making the spare bed we both agreed that it's a really nice bedroom and much easier to keep warm and cosy than our bedroom. Our bedroom has a massive bay window and 2 other windows and whilst it's lovely in the summer it's got a tendency to be chilly in the winter. So a huge ping, ping lightbulb burst into life and we have now re-located to our "winter palace" for a couple of weeks until hopefully the temperature rises. I'm sure the cat will soon work out where we are 😼4 -
Love the sudden realisation... I'm a bit the same with my downstairs study - much easier to heat than the front room (when I even have heating on).Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
