@lucielle - I love that Mrs Thatcher line - so funny and brilliantly delivered. We both sniggered at it yesterday.
thank you SH - we are enjoying the film festival - particularly because we can chose any time of the day or evening to watch them. That feels very special and really highlights for me my new life/work balance.
we've got hot chocolate with chocolate stirring sticks for this afternoon's choice - Lethal Weapon. There's a very obvious distinction between my film choices and Mr BC's.2 -
I'm with MrBC. I really like Indiana Jones. I've never seen Love Actually but I have seen The Muppets Christmas Carol. Our all time favourite youtube clip is The Swedish Chef popcorn one.2

Merry Christmas BC! So sorry to hear about your cat x

@CRANKY40 - our Christmas film festival became a festival of films at Christmas so we've watched individual favourites and joint favourites as well as some new to us choices.
thank you @[Deleted User]. I miss the cat very much - he was a rescue cat who only trusted me. He was very gentle and affectionate. At least he was safe and happy for the 13 years I had him.First quiet day for a while here which I've enjoyed. We've had a lovely few days, cooking for others, being cooked for and being treated to 2 pub meals. My spare bedroom looks very bare now that all the presents have been distributed. I'm going to build up my birthday/Christmas savings pot again. I love giving gifts and it's been nice to know that I've saved up and can buy presents without the fear of a January credit card statement. I've also used the savings to buy the Christmas food too. We had a fabulous turkey breast, filet of beef and pigs in blankets from our local butcher. When we got home from our travels last night we had leftover roast beef, horseradish and salad baguettes - gorgeous.
so my New Year planning definitely includes continuing with the Christmas savings pot.
we are having a year end/new year financial board meeting tomorrow. It will include hot chocolate and panettone 😋. I have stationery at the ready.4 -

I miss our black cat too. She was so friendly and purry. The one we have left has bitten all of the HT's friends at least once although they all still chat to her and stroke her. They've just learned to watch for that certain look she gives which means she will be putting the munch on them any second.2

I enjoy giving too. It's such a lovely feeling to finish the year with no debt other than the mortgage.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

@CRANKY40 - your tales about your cat are very entertaining - she sounds like a real character.
Yes @savingholmes being debt free is a lovely feeling. You've done very well this year. Not only debt free but you've got savings too.
our financial board meeting went well this afternoon. I think hot chocolate and pannetone set the right tone to get OH interested in plans and number crunching. My financial folder is all set up and tidy. I think it will work better for me than a notebook. I've got a divider for each month and lots of plastic wallets 😸. I've printed out some templates to record spends etc. OH is on board with an ambitious savings target for 2023. It will be our first full year with me not working so to achieve savings we will have to reduce spends. Starting with a low spends January.Feeling motivated and looking forward to a frugal start to the year.4 -
Rescue cats/dogs are the best - yours was very lucky to have you x
leftover sandwich sounds amazing! We did leftover beef and horseradish on a home made pizza this week - also fab
As I’ve been MIA for a while, I’ve forgotten - have you stopped work completely now?
Loving your folder set up - want to do the same but DH resistant!!2
