Vehicle warranty - can a dealer sell a vehicle without one?

I bought a motorhome in August from a dealer. He did not give a warranty as he said he had discounted the price. Mechanically everything seems ok, but the boiler would not work. I messaged him and sent photos in case there was something simple I was doing wrong, but he said everything looked ok. I have since taken the vehicle to mechanics who have sent parts off to be repaired, but the board is beyond repair and the parts are now obsolete.
If I cannot get a part from a breaker then I will be looking at a new boiler at a cost of thousands.
Should I have had a warranty even though the price was discounted?
I have tried Citizens Advice, Financial Ombudsman, Which? but no one seems to know.

A warranty is not a legal right and if one is offered it's in addition to your statutory rights. Regardless of any "discount", therefore, the dealer had no obligation to offer a warranty.

I'm assuming the motorhome is old and secondhand?

Consumer Regulations / Rights still apply though dealer has offered no warranty .

    Yes, 14 years old.

It is all going to depend on how much you paid for the motorhome compared to how much one would expect to pay for a similar model without any faults
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

was the boiler working when you bought it if not why did you buy it like that, and can you prove it wasnt working at the time of sale

if it was working and it has now gone wrong , it may juts be wear and tear on a 14 year old bolier

I doubt you'll get far with such a complaint about a second hand item that was already 14 years old when you bought it. The dealer will just say the vehicle was discounted to reflect it's age and condition...

Rookie error, Checked mechanics, damp etc but did not need to use hot water until we went away for a weekend. Impossible to prove whether it was working or not when we bought it.

Possibly, though the seller said it was working when he sold it to me.

You don't have a very compelling complaint then, I'm afraid.

This is not like a brand new item wherein all fixtures, fittings and accessories etc would be expected to last a "reasonable" time.

You basically bought a 14 year-old boiler as part of your purchase and you'll now have to decide whether it's cost effective to replace it...
