Kaspersky Password Manager

After automatic update today I am stuck with a permanent message about downloading their password manager application, which I don't want.

Even unticking the box that says install, the message just remains and there is no cross in the corner to close it.

I can't find any way of getting rid of it, so if anyone else knows I would be very grateful.

Thanks.

I have used Kaspersky for years and always found it very good, but just don't know why this has no option to get rid of.

^^^ This. Are you on Windows 7, or 10?
If 7, you really should be switching to 10. If you are on 10, you don't need Kaspersky. I had Kaspersky on 7 for years, then Kas had the effrontery to tell me to remove Malwarebytes, which had been running alongside Kas for the same time period. So I booted Kaspersky and kept MWB, never had a problem on 7 but did have faster boot times and freed up some space: all AV's are resource hogs, in varying amounts.

If still on 7, uninstall Kaspersky and install MWB: I advise taking the paid for Premium version, which renews every year. I switched to 10 this week, and kept MWB. Does not conflict with Windows Defender and does no harm to have it in the background.

I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

I am still on Windows 7, but unfortunately will have to upgrade to a new computer fairly soon. I have also used MWB for years alongside the Kaspersky with no problems. Having just renewed the Kaspersky subscription I am planning to put it on my next computer, but what you say is a bit worrying.

This password manager thing is really annoying, I have unticked the box that says install, but it just won't go away. I have dragged it right down the bottom of the screen until it doesn't show, but it is still there:(

Have to say that I have never had any problems in all the years I have used Kaspersky, it appears to have kept my computer safe.

  • Open the Kaspersky control panel (Click on desktop icon or on taskbar)
Click on "Details" on protection status recommendations.
Click on "Learn more" on Install Kaspersky Password Manager
    Select "Ignore"

This seems to work on Kaspersky Total Security so should work on other versions.

Lose the irrational tie to Kaspersky.
I understand it has kept your computer safe - But the built in Defender within W10, or the free version of bitdefender will keep you just as safe.
This is a moneysaving site afterall.

Stick with Malwarebytes and use them in tandem to cover all the bases (malware & AV)

Bear in mind that the OP is talking about Kaspersky Password Manager and not Kaspersky AV/Security Suite.
