Hi all,
Trying to help out a friend (son in-law)
He parked his car out side his sisters house and received a PCN. See picture.
He ignored and now has a TRACE Debt Recovery UK Limited letter.
Do we pay in full or appeal "with-out" naming driver?
Thank you all for reading and also thank you for any replies.

Thank you all,KeithToon

Debt recovery letters - covered in the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #4. In short ignore. But don't ignore a formal Letter of Claim (from either Gladstones or BW Legal) or court papers from the Northampton CCBC. Come back (or better, your son-in-law - you can't do this for him) if either are received.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

You might want to take those pictures down until you have redacted the VRM.

Pay nothing unless a judge orders it.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • Thank you Le_Kirk...pictures removed.

Please read the other TRACE threads by searching the forum, and complain to the CSA about the wording of TRACE's threatogram.

No-one will tell you to pay the scammers. That is NOT an option on this forum.

Keep all letters and make sure if the keeper moves house that the PPC is told to erase the old address (never leave two addresses on a PPC scammers' database as you can bet they will use the old one deliberately, for any court claim).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

A ballpark figure for the cost of a loss at the small claims court is £200, which includes the £100 original parking charge.

There's no risk of a CCJ or credit rating affect if the cost order is paid within the deadline set by the Judge.
