Wayfair and couriers

I bought a couple of dining chairs from Wayfair, but when they came I didn't like the colour so arranged a return.

They sent me the paperwork for the courier, Hermes, and were going to be picked up on Friday 13th December. So I took the day off work and waited, but they never turned up. I checked the tracking and it said they'd collect them on Saturday the 14th, so again I sat about at home all day (collecting anytime between 8am and 8pm) but they didn't turn up!

So I phoned up to complain and Wayfair said that it'd definitly be picked up on the Monday. So I took another day off...and they didn't turn up again!:mad:

I complained, again, and was told they'd book a new courier, and would use UPS this time, for collection on Tuesday. I said I couldn't stay at home another day, but Wayfair told me just to leave the boxes outside my front door and they'd be collected by UPS from there. So I did. Then I come home from work and the boxes are still there.:mad::mad:

I called Wayfair AGAIN, and I'm told that UPS did attempt to collect, but need a signature to collect the boxes. I shouldn't have been told that I could just leave them outside. The said UPS would come again the next day. So, I worked from home yesterday, and obviously there was no sign of UPS.:mad::mad::mad:

Wayfair have now marked the order as Return Completed and have refunded my money. I've chucked the chairs in the loft, as there was nowhere else to put them.

Should I contact Wayfair again...or just stick them on Gumtree and sell them?

Contact them again. Don't sell them. They're not yours and Wayfair have up to six years to get them back from you.

If they don't seem minded to act, write to them asking for their agreement that the chairs are now yours to do with them as you please.

Common misconception ... unless they've contractually agreed to pay storage fees then you can't unilaterally impose them.
