Price Match Guidelines

Hi Everyone

Apologies if this has been discussed before

When can we make a price match claim for a product? I checked the retailer's terms and conditions but nothing is mentioned however they have mentioned on their site that they will beat another price if found to be cheaper

"We use sophisticated IT systems to monitor online prices every day to make sure that you never pay more than you need to.
Our lowest price guarantee means that, in the very unlikely event, that you find someone offering the same product cheaper we will match it."

I bought the item and it was £87.00 - but I have seen it elsewhere for £40.00

When I asked the chat advisor online they said If I have received the product I cannot make a claim any longer - do I have to accept this as it's not mentioned in terms and conditions or is there any law stating that I can still apply for the price match?

Thanks

I’m most cases price matches can’t be applied after the sale is done, if it was only £40 at the time you bought it you should have said then

Nothing there suggests to me that they'll give you a refund after the event.

I read their guarantee as you would advise them before purchase of the same product at the lower price and they will match it
nothing implies there is any after sales retrospective matching / refunds
It is possible it was not £40 elsewhere before you purchased (otherwise you would have seen it and could have asked for the match or bought from the cheaper place)

@zoob - it was a bathroom cabinet but I only noticed the cheaper price now after browsing - I definitely would have told them if I saw it at the time of ordering. I didn't realize it would be this much of a difference :-(

@powerful_rogue - it was purchased 2 weeks ago and received last week.

Thank you, everyone, for replying I really appreciate it :-)

Have you assembled it and disposed of the packaging?

Have you assembled it and disposed of the packaging?

And was it an online or in-store purchase? (I know where p_R is going with this).
  • If you bought it online, cancel the order, return it and buy from the cheaper supplier.
