Strangely ( this site ) has the same dimensions as you found on the Bosch Q @ A
Doesn't explain the major discrepancy with the manual tho

Final update:
I received a call from Bosch technical division, and long story short, they recognised that the information in the installation manual is incorrect. After checking with customer service dept., they agreed to pay up to £100 to get it shortened. They also have raised a complaint so that the issue can be formally addressed and fixed.
It seems it would be almost hit and miss whether you end up in this situation. The correct information is in a 3-page technical data sheet, though even it is a bit ambiguous, and you wouldn't typically look at this before purchasing, you'd look at the manual/installation manual.
* I got the job done at a metal fabricating company in Birmingham. It took them about 10 minutes and it cost £50! (I figure I was paying for expertise, not time, plus Bosch are paying).(Nearly) dunroving0 -

Well ... they were going to laser cut it, but when I arrived, they said they were not going to laser cut it, because it would take to long to set up the jig (I think he said they would have to "build" a jig specific to the job). They were due to close at 2pm for Christmas and knew I wanted it done before Christmas.
So, a little guy took it away and I think he used some sort of rotary cutting tool to within a mm or less of the cut line, and then finished it by hand.
Another metal fabrication company said they would cut it with a rotary tool, and finish it with a Scotchbrite cloth.(Nearly) dunroving0
