Car Insurance Owning the car against buying in future
Options
HI,
Bit of a strange issue i have in that im doing quotes for my 18 year old daughter who has owned a car for a year and gained 1 years NC. If i tick the box to say she owns the car now the insurance quote is over £150 more + she has to keep the black box. However if i say she doent own the car and will own it on the day her insurance runs out the quote is alot cheaper and no black box. Any ideas why and what would happen if i says she doenst own the car now and insure it?

No idea why. But if does not answer truthfully it could invalidate her insurance. Or possibly cause ins co to cancel insurance.
Don't do it.I am not a cat (But my friend is)0 -
Is it with the same insurer?0

No different insurer. Something isn’t right as if i change the reg of the car to a newer car the insurance is cheaper if i don’t already own the car. As soon as i tick the box to say i bought the car in Jan 2019 it adds £150 and insists on her having a black box.0

Computers do some odd things.....
Could be worth calling up and asking them to match the lower quote.0 -

So does the cheaper insurer's price jump up by £150 or do they decline to quote?0 -
Im doing it through a comparison site and simply by changing if my daughter has the car or not changes the prices that im quoted and if she needs a black box or not. I cant see what the differance really is to the risk of the insurance if she has the car now or in the future.0

I am afraid you do not need to see or know the risk - car insurer underwriters are crazy.
So did the same insurer jack the price up or decline to quote?
Have you tried clearing your cookies, doing a couple of quotes in private mode in a different web browser?0
