Buy another car to avoid mileage charge on lease

Costs of handing it back:
- Replacement spare key - £130
- Replacement rear bumper - £200
- Replacement fog light - £60
- Fix front wing dent - unknown cost (got a quote for £700 last time car was in dealership LOL nothanks)
- Alloy wheels refurb - £200
- "Admin fee" of removing registration plate - £42
You certainly need to get those things done before handing back because the lease company will charge you more, almost certainly.
As for my desire to drive a shed, yes I just want some very cheap motoring. I have spent a lot of money on my car in the last 3 years, spent lot of money on modifying and track days etc and £7000 or whatever the lease has been. So now I just want to spend as little money on cars as possible, even if it only for 6 months or a year or so.
Does the leasing company know? Are you planning to demodify it before hand back?0 -

And yes I will be removing mods and selling them before I hand it back.
Have you got any advice pertinent to the actual point of this thread, or are you just here to patronise?0 -
If you've been willing to mod the car which is probably against the terms and conditions, you might as well find someone willing to clock the car! Some cars need specialist software and equipment, not like the good old days sadly0

I'm aware that I need to get those sorted, that's why I said in the previous post, these are the things I need to get sorted.
And yes I will be removing mods and selling them before I hand it back.

Oh! I thought I was just being politely helpful.
My advice: Pay the excess mileage.0 -

Above are just guesstimates.
They seem far too cheap.
For reference I've paid:
- Replacement spare key - £130 (Volvo, key + programming was £300+ a few years ago)
- Replacement rear bumper - £200 - i'd expect the part alone to be over that, then cost of paint and labour.
- Replacement fog light - £60 - right ball-park figure
- Fix front wing dent - unknown cost (got a quote for £700 last time car was in dealership) - for a new wing with paint and fitting that's pretty good. For a body-shop to repair a wing, i'd expect more like £500
- Alloy wheels refurb - £200 - I've had 2 sets of wheels professionally refurbished in the last year. One set was £320 and another closer to £500 as some wheel repairs were needed also.
- "Admin fee" of removing registration plate - £42 - Can't you do that yourself?0 -

Firstly, modifying the car is not against the lease terms,
Secondly, I'm not willing to clock the car as it's a criminal offence. They seem far too cheap.

- Can get a used bumper for £100 & does not take long to fit.
- The front wing is a very small minor dent on the corner. I would like to think it will not need a new wing but who knows.
- I see adverts for local garages doing alloy refurb for £200 all the time near me. They aren't that bad but probably bad enough to go over the guidelines in the BVSA or whatever its called.
- I can't remove my private reg myself as I do not have the V50 -
Firstly, modifying the car is not against the lease terms,- I'm not gonna get a key from a dealer, way too expensive. I've had quotes for £130 from third party companies.- Can get a used bumper for £100 & does not take long to fit.- The front wing is a very small minor dent on the corner. I would like to think it will not need a new wing but who knows.- I see adverts for local garages doing alloy refurb for £200 all the time near me. They aren't that bad but probably bad enough to go over the guidelines in the BVSA or whatever its called.
Here is the standard, if you've not seen it.

BTW, it's not currently your reg - it belongs to the registered keeper of the car it's on...0 -
I'd be very surprised at that.
Is that just cloning the existing key, or is it removing the lost one from the security and adding a new one?
So do it before the car goes back.
So do it before the car goes back.
And is the "refurb" good enough to pass the return standard?

So how did you get it on there?

- The two points about doing before handing back... yes... that is what I said in the first post, i have costs that I need to sort out at the end of the lease. I don't have any intention of paying ripoff prices by the lease company, I will pay for these all these things to fix myself.
- I had to pay £42 fee to put my private plate on (on top of the £80 dvla fee). The lease company charges £42 administration fee to change plates on the car. Because they send off the paperwork to DVLA. I have to pay £42 again to remove it, I think.
Thanks:)0 -
- Key: don't remember what it was before but not like they will check about lost keys, as long as it has two keys, I think that's all they will care about- I had to pay £42 fee to put my private plate on (on top of the £80 dvla fee). The lease company charges £42 administration fee to change plates on the car. Because they send off the paperwork to DVLA. I have to pay £42 again to remove it, I think.0
