Car Scheme Insurance

The wife has recently completed some treatment for an illness and as a treat I am currently looking at getting a car through a work scheme. The recommended insurer (different branch of the same company who provide the car) have stipulated I need to be of a minimum age (although the main driver is already that age & I will hit that during the policy) & that I have to be on the insurance given I am the employee, so basically I can't get insurance.

What I am now trying to find is an insurance company who in the event of a write off would give the option of new car or cash as the work scheme require the cash. I would then need GAP Insurance to cover the difference.

The reason I ask is some insurance companies only offer a new car & there is a clause in some Gap Insurance that if your insurer offers you a new car and you decline for cash then they won't pay out.

Such a hassle that it's almost enough to not bother with the scheme and find something myself

Thank you
