I'm looking to buy one of those smart doorbell that send video or intercom to your phone. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations. Thank you.

Ring is the only one worth getting.0

I find the cheapo £30 ones do the same job
If you want image quality go for the Dahua bell (2MP)
For ease of use and setup Ring or Nest.0 -
Ring (owned by amazon) is the leader at least in the UK market trailed by Nest (owned by Google).
Then there is a host of cheap Chinese stuff which is very hit and miss.
I have Ring and only ever use the video function when I'm not home, it's faster to just get to the door and either peep through the hole or just open it, than finding your phone and frustrate the person on the door with a video call.
The main question you have to answer to yourself is whether you want a battery operated or hardwired one.0 -
It depends what you want .
If you want 24/7 recordings in the cloud then something like Nest will do. (I think ring only records on motion but happy for someone to correct me )0 -
I have put a Swann indoor camera under the porch, £58.
Seems to work ok but as said above if you are home when the doorbell rings it's far easier just the open the door.
One of the things I noticed is that when it records movement, both to a inbuilt SD card and to cloud, the video starts about 3 or 4 seconds before the motion was triggered. It must make a few seconds recording all the time on a loop.0 -
Thank you for your suggestions. Due to disability, getting to the door is difficult, so a smart doorbell with really make a difference.0

Just installed a ring doorbell for my mum. It didnt install first time, in the way suggested by the user guide, in fact it was a bit of a faff. Nothing like the suggested videos. Also, although I new it was only going to ring on my mobile device, you cant always hear that if its one end of the house and you're at the other. Also it actually rings outside in the bell itself, which is rather pointless, IMO. So, I bought a ring chime, which also didnt install as per the manual and again was a right old faff to get going. The video quality is quite good but there's quite a delay in the audio when you talk to someone at the door, even at fibre speeds (not like the TV advert). All in all, I wouldnt bother again.0
