Buyagift money voucher - expired.

Hi
Can anyone help me out here.
I have a £50 buyagift money voucher. It’s not an experience or gift it is a gift money card to use on Buyagift. I know there are expiry dates for experiences/gifts etc but was not aware there would be an expiry on this.
I’ve contacted buyagift but they have told me twice that there’s nothing they can do due to expiring. I appreciate it is some time ago but I’ve been saving it for when I really needed it.
I have had issues with buyagift before as you need to pay £20 for them to do any changes/extensions with vouchers therefore losing so much money so I am not surprised by this. But if anyone can advise, as surely this can’t be right?
Thanks in advance

It's correct, pretty much every type of voucher with every store will have an expiry date of some sort, some are quite decent and allow 12-24 months and others could be just 3-6 months. This is the reason lots of us don't particularly like gift cards because they are pretty restrictive.
It sounds like it's a regular thing for you to miss voucher deadlines if you've already had to extend/change other vouchers with them previously, maybe check all expiry dates in the future and add a note in a diary a few days/weeks before the end to remind you they have to be used.0 -
Yes it is allowed. The purchaser of the gift card should have been aware when they bought it though. These vouchers expire after ten months.0

If only there were some form of gift voucher that kept its face value almost indefinitely, was lightweight and foldable and was accepted by almost every retailer and service provider.
Whoever comes up with such a thing would make a mint.0 -
It could even get royal approval, and perhaps even have a picture of Her Majesty on it.0

: ) I know!
The money card was to replace a cancelled gift experience and expiry wasn’t stated at the time. I knew that they could do it, just so frustrating to lose that amount of money especially when I’d been saving it for when really needed. I was hoping for a way round it.
Anyway thanks so much for your replies. Much appreciated0 -

Yes, but although it would keep its face value, wouldn't you still have to spend it fairly quickly in case it became a victim of inflation? If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
