Hi all,
I am looking for a portable hard drive to back up my desktop computer running windows 7.
I have been trawling through them on Amazon and am now totally confused and have a massive headache,!!!!!
Amazon seems to favour one brand but the reviews seem pretty bad:eek:
I would welcome any suggestions from anyone who has bought one they are happy with
Massive thanks for all replies

They all work under 7, they're just mass storage devices.
Note that Amazon reviews tend to attract more people with "problems" than those who don't, when the bulk of the "problems" are user related, not device related.

I always stick to Western Digital (WD) for mechanical drives. I have several WD internal drives and a WD Passport external drive.
I often use these retailers for PC components. No problems with any of them:
scan.co.uk
ebuyer.com
novatech.co.uk
overclockers.co.uk
You probably want to make sure the drive supports USB 3, as it will be much faster than USB 2.0 -
Only if the PC has USB3 , but, yes going forward 3 is the better option.I always stick to Western Digital (WD) for mechanical drives. I have several WD internal drives and a WD Passport external drive.

Which zoostorm desktop have you got ? Model number would help, and what is the size of the disk drive in it, and how much free space does it have free. Just thinking for now, but you could buy an internal SSD and then install W10 on the fresh disk , use the old one as data and a temporary backup of your w7 as it is.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex .
