So my magazine subscription came out early! I was expecting it in March, not February. Glad I put £10 aside last month and £20 this month as it came to £46.72. I do enjoy it and as it's for 13 issues, which are £5.99 each in the shops, I am saving a nice amount. I have cancelled it though, so it can't surprise me next year, as I can always take out a new subscription when this one ends as there are often offers. Sadly they did clue in to my keeping taking out the 3 for £5 intro offer. Hahaha.
Anyway, I've updated the figures on my spreadsheet (I've decided to use both pen and paper and spreadsheet, but my spreadsheet is super simple). And I still have a nice buffer going on.
I've got two extra kids after school today. I'm hoping kicking them out to play in the sunshine will work until feeding time at the zoo and then homework before they rot their brains in front of the TV.1 -
Can I get a congratulations! My son needs new trainers. I thought if I order some online through mountain w*rehouse that I can get them delivered to store and pick them up. Except the trainer's were on offer so brought them under the £20 store delivery. School emailed saying they need an orange t shirt for one day (grr) found one on sale at the above store, but I was short the £20 threshold still by £2 So my brain says buy the £15 dress. Thankfully I had words with myself. Remembered the above store sells things through @mazon too, and I have prime and I'm sure he has an orange jumper, which will do rather than a t shirt. So I ordered just the trainers, through @mazon and stopped myself from silly spending!
I put £50 aside last month and another £50 aside this month for shoes and clothes, so it was budgeted for... But I don't need another dress and he certainly doesn't need any more t shirts. Thankfully other parents were equally unimpressed by this nonsense.
For now, I can be pleased spending £12.99 (yay half price offer), rather than the £33 I was going to justify in order to buy the £12.99 item I did need.
Children all survived the play date but my god my son was annoying.1 -
Excellent purchasing. I used to find it exhausting when my kids had friends round to visit. Mine seemed to want to show off/be silly/be argumentative while their friends behaved beautifully - apparently the same happened at their friend's houses where my children were little angels.
Time to relax now- have you got any sugary snacks left?1 -
Yup, it's standard kiddy protocol. But I've done my duty for a bit, figured if I have two at once it is easier than having two days of it!
I was hoping to do some sewing between work and school pick up, as the boy has an after school club, but I've offered to stay late to wait in for the south west water guy - all sorts of floody nonsense going on at the moment. It's not really a problem for me to stay late and gets me in the good books. I also got a lovely thank you letter that I'd been asked to send off to the bosses and another FD was saying how another client was singing my praises yesterday. So pleased all my families are happy with the work I do for them.
So today is work, pick up boy, put on washing, cook tea, clean kitchen and wash up, sew, sleep!1 -
The water guy never turned up, which is annoying. That said it is (finally) getting sorted AND during my quite time (summer) I'm getting a bit of a revamp! Woop. In fairness the carpet in the chapel and now the lobby is soaked and needs ripping up, the floor in the mortuary (painted) bubbled up and started pealing last year and the chapel and office walls have damp marks on them, so there's not much option other than to revamp it.
In less wooping news I have menstrual cramp on my left side, I've broken out in spots and I have Augustus Gloop's demand for chocolate. Grrr.1 -
Ooh, shiny new forum.
So! Nothing exciting has been going on over here. Child benefit and working tax credit both went into my account today. I finished my friend's birthday present earlier in the week and I've photographed it today, but obviously can't share the photo otherwise my friend will see it. And I have made goulash in my instant pot. I've not had goulash in ages, but it felt great doing it in the pot and not have to worry about it and have it cooked quick. The boy has his school disco today (so a few spends there) which means he'll need to eat early, but the boyfriend isn't here until later, so he'll want to eat late. This way I keep everyone happy.
No huge plans for the weekend. A few jobs and my parents' houses and I want to do more work in the garden, but that's about it I think. Might see if the boyfriend wants to do something. The boy always just wants to spend money and eat, so it's pointless asking him. I have got £80 in the fun pot though1 -

Thanks. I took it in a nice way. I had a stinking migraine this morning. So mostly just rested. After it eased I cut some fabric for a couple of new blocks and made a roast dinner for tea.
The boy is still over at a friend's house so it's been a more relaxed afternoon after a stressful morning - in addition to the migraine.
Tomorrow I need to check through the shopping to be delivered on Monday and work on the boyfriend's gift as he's leaving early.0 -
I hope you've had a nice weekend after the migraine went.1
