  • Ah I may not have mentioned it. The monkey surprised me and when I pulled in on my road after work I saw his car parked up! I may have let out a little squeal. I wasn't expecting to see him until tomorrow. It was a lovely surprise.

I've prepared some Chelsea buns and they're just having a second prove while I have a soak in the tub and I finished off my yellow block for my quilt earlier this evening.

I also got to add another £20 to my laptop pot, which makes me happy.

The reason I've sorted mum and dad's birthdays is because they're away for both of them. And I have valentine's and my friend's planned because making something always takes longer than buying. Don't worry, my son's birthday is next month, but I need to get him fitted for football boots before I buy them! This will be a 60 mile round trip. Urgh.
  • It's the first and I have some spends coming out already! Spendy spendy.

Now I'm going to do household and gardening jobs before the boy goes to a party at 4pm. The boyfriend is going to mum and dad's to work on the floor so it makes sense I do jobs here and we can have a few child free hours in a clean home.

No more spends due out this weekend, I do have a few bills expected (automatically paid stuff) like council tax. I'll need to buy the cards and cushion inserts, but that's coming out of money put aside under "events" last month. They're still sat in my basket. Lol.

Hope you've had a lovely day. 1st of the month is usually a busy time for direct debits - my bank account gets very depleted in the first few days of the month, but looking on the bright side we have enough money to pay our living expenses, feed and clothe ourselves and still have some left to save and to enjoy. I suppose not everyone is that fortunate.
  • Oh yes, I'm very fortunate.

So, I worked hard in the garden for 2 hours and my hands and arms are ripped to shreds. I did a set of laundry, folded another set for the boy to put away, I cleared through a drawer in the sideboard, I vacuumed the lounge, I made lasagne and lunch for everyone and did a stack of washing up. I took lunch and tools up to the boyfriend at mum and dad's house. A friend took the boy to the party and another dropped him off, I've now invited both boys over after school on Tuesday. So the boyfriend and I went to mum and dad's other house, I sorted their post and we took the dog for a walk along the sea front, then went back to the first house to work on the floor a bit more and I spotted a leak - so there's that to fix next, got home, put the lasagne in the oven and the boy declared he didn't have much to eat at the party so he joined us for tea too. I'm now in bed absolutely exhausted! But I didn't spend anything...
  • Today was a little more spendy, but all planned. I've ordered the rest of this term's school dinners (until Easter) which was just £25. I've paid my rent £433.13. I've ordered 2 cushion inserts and a card each for my friend and my boyfriend for Valentine's Day. I had £20 saved for it and spent about £13, but I need to post the card, a birthday card and gift to my friend too. I've prepared all the pieces for her gift, so it should be sewn up tomorrow, then I'll work on the boyfriend's gift.

I was exhausted today. CFS is a !!!!! if I don't take care, so I have rested and even had a nap. The boy has been challenging all weekend, which is also tiring. I've not sewn anything and only cut a few pieces of fabric as my hands are aching from Saturday's efforts.

I meal planned for this coming weekend, amended my food delivery and done those online payment bits of admin. I also picked out the fabrics for the boyfriend's valentine's Day gift and listened to the boy read for a bit.

And tomorrow is the start of another week. I've got an appointment with a chap to chat about prepaid funeral plans, and one of my ladies will be going Monday too.

Hi Fran - you do so well - be kind to yourself x sorry what is CFS?
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome. I was diagnosed about 6 years ago and about a million times better than I was. But when I'm stressed and on a "go-go-go" mission I can burn out, but don't realise until the next day or so. Early signs for me are cold and tired combined and sore or weak hands and/or brain fog.

All that said it's been a long old while since a relapse and it's mostly under control except when I over-do it because I want to do everything.
  • What a blinking ar*e of a day! Glad it's done.

Food delivery arrived and the mince was use by today and the beef use by tomorrow. No note on the receipt so I couldn't give it back to the man and they still insist on putting meat and chicken in red bags so I only saw it when I was putting it away. I called customer services and they're sending a refund for both. The beef I've popped in the freezer as it's for Friday and the mince looks perfectly fine and I'm cooking it tomorrow anyway. But the feedback goes back to store so they'll send the note to the pickers to either have it on the receipt or pick longer dates. I won't say no to a refund though, especially as it was a pricier shop. It did get me a 5p off per litre of fuel coupon though. With discount the shopping came to £46.59. Handy as I snuck out earlier for sugary provisions after having a non-stop pita of a day!

Anyway, lots of bills found their way out of my account today. All accounted for might I add.

Sorry your day wasn't great. Sugary snacks should help. :T
It's so annoying when shopping has short sell by dates - well done for complaining and getting the refund though.
I imagine that most people's bank accounts are like a game of kerplunk (you are probably too young to have played kerplunk) but at the start of the month I think all the money/marbles get put in and then by about 5th of the month most of the money/marbles have poured out. My bank account is certainly like that.
  • Haha, you'll be pleased to hear kerplunk is a popular game to this day! I just need to remind myself that it's ok, the rest of the pennies are in the savings account, they've not disappeared by having been spent!

I also heard through the grapevine that my childminder might be looking to stop working. She's in her 70s so fair play to her! She's very youthful though, her mum lived to 101 and she's great with the kids. I'll have to work out how to manage without her. The other childminders in the area I'm not all that keen on. Although as my boy is almost 9, I won't be using child minders for that much longer I guess.
