Set aside of judgment and Consent Order

Options
Hi
I apply for set aside of judgment.
My set aside date is middle of January 2020, in the meantime I got a letter from Claimant, Consent Order:
"We write further to your application to set aside default judgment made on 27/10/2019.
Our client has agreed for the Judgment to be set aside and the claim discontinued as recorded in the attached Consent Order.
Please can you sign and return this to us so that we can file it with the Court."

Claimant he wants me to sign it. And now I don't know if I should sign it or not.
Any advise will help.
Thanks.

Because I don't know what it means.
Does this mean that there will be no claims and CCJ will be canceled and my credit file will be clear?
  • It means the CCJ will be removed from your file, but you still owe the debt but at a discounted rate as detailed on the letter.

    Exactly what you typed out.

    Thank You.
  • Could you potentially send the example of your consent order?

Yes, definitely sign it! There are companies that specialise in using this method to remove CCJs from people's files (and they charge a lot, so you just got that service for free!)

FYI, many companies will offer consent orders so that you don't put in a counter claim for costs etc.
Are you agreeing to pay if they set aside, or is it a fairly low balance?
