POPLA appeal rejected do I have a case?

I parked in a private car park which had a number recognition scheme. I did not realise that at the time and thought it was pay and display. I used a card to pay and got as far as entering the first digit of my reg before the machine flicked over to take payment. I displayed my ticket and thought no more of it.
I then got the fine in the post. They reduced the fine from £60 to £30 as I had paid but I chose to appeal through POPLA. I had paid after all. Appeal has just been rejected and now facing a fine of £100.
Do I give up and pay or go to small claims.
Seems crazy as I paid and I can’t understand why the machine would tick over and ask for payment if I hadn’t entered a valid registration if that is a requirement for parking.
Please help
Wish I had looked at this site before my POPLA appeal but I thought they would uphold it as I evidenced payment. Obviously I am too trusting of fair behaviour.

Who is the parking company?0

deffo too trusting , name the PPC
a judge would look at this as de minimis , frustration of contract due to faulty machines , you paid so no bilking
should be no reason why you cannot win in court, so keep all paperwork

You’re right premier park. Triangle car park in Southampton. I was only parked for 3.5hours at a cost of £12.50 which seems expensive enough.0

tell that to a judge
thats rather the point , isnt it ? they had their money
not your fault if a machine is faulty , read the CRA 20150 -
Why would a judge make a different decision to POPLA though? Why don’t POPLA take a view that payment been made and evidenced therefore no fine due?0

Re read post 3 by Redx.
Study the NEWBIES thread (one click back third thread down)
POPLA can be a lottery and we haven’t seen your appeal or the reasons for rejection so hard to judge.0
