Barclays has shutdown and should receive a letter in few days when i spoke to someone today fraud team they told me that bank made commercial decision to close my account because haven't provided accurate information that's on my credit report. I disagree with that. I haven't lied about nothing. they check my ID and everything
i have only had the account for 11 months can the bank really do that?

Yes, they can unilaterally choose to close your account, regardless of how long you've had it for, although obviously it would be more typical that any discrepancy between application and ID verification data would come to the surface up front rather than later on. It's also unusual for a bank to provide so much detail about reason for closure - what exactly did they say?

Agree with the above response. Even allowing for your poor English the reason given sounds very odd.
Are you sure they didn't say they are closing your account because of (adverse) information obtained from your credit report or to check your credit report to understand why they are closing the account?
  • Well I haven't got the letter yet this all happened this afternoon when i did call all they said about haven't provided accurate information that's on my credit report and bank has made a commercial decision to close my account. I did tell them i was going to appeal because i have nothing to hide and feel like i haven't done anything

information obtained from my credit report
That's better. Not what you wrote in the OP.
Now tell us what adverse information they are likely to have discovered recently in your credit report.
  • Just open an account elsewhere and be honest in your applications
  • Looking at my credit report i only have 2 defaults and 2 catalogue accounts , 2 bank account that's all . I have back up bank account anyways :)

basically a CIFAS marker has come up. Never heard of a bank shutting down an account down the line because some information on the credit file seemed odd later on down the line. Only happens for fraud purposes, i.e CIFAS

    Not necessarily.

Banks and credit cards have closed accounts following “further checks” and has been posted on here in the past.
