Remittance Credit ?

I've searched and googled a bit but I can't seem to find anything about this.
I have a strange credit on my bank account and I have no idea what it is.
27/11/2007 Remittance £22.00
CAPITA REM
Apparently remittance is some form of sending money back home oversees ? Is it likely this is just a mistake where someone has sent the money to the wrong account or could it be something suspect ? I'd love to phone my bank (barclays) to ask but alas I can't seem to find a phone number where I get to speak to someone/don't need to be registered for telephone banking.

A remittance is any form of payment. (You've Googled into a paper tracking the average (per capita = per head [ie person] payment of money back home by migrant workers - hence the 'overseas' bit)
More likely the Capita ...... that is a major outsourcing company - that has made the payment. Handle pensions (partic Govt) / private health / TV licence / congestion charge(currently) etc etc. You due any refunds, or similar, from any such source?
More stuff they d/w here :

Think Mikeyorks is likely to have identified the source of your mysterious credit, although the other alternative is that you work/ have worked for Capita & have at some point claimed expenses or mileage - it shows up as a remittance on statements etc (well from Capita it does).
I used to work for Capita & have claimed expenses, although they can be often be processed any time between 3 days & 3 months, usually as a fortnightly BACS run?
HTHPO CC: gone!; HFC/pc loan: gone!; Cahoot Flexi. Loan: gone! Overdraft: gone! Mint CC: gone!
MBNA (new since LBM!): £100 going this month!
Natwest CC: £4.1k@0%('til July); SLC Loan: £2k@4.8%;
Savings:£5k+
Shared Debt (with OH): £15k@10.7% & £82k@4.9%mortgage0 -
thanks guys,
I'm not due any money from anyone or any kind of refunds and have no idea who Capita are. I'll keep an eye on it and see if I can get hold of an actual person at barclays if anything else appears.0 -
As the credit was only applied today - it may well have a bit more detail (reference etc) applied to it - after your Banks overnight Batch run tonight.If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
