I’m guessing the fibre you’re referring to is the fibre mesh?

Nope. Mesh is used over board joints and cracks. The fibres I referred to (and use) are more akin to fluff. They get mixed in to the plaster before the stuff is slapped on the walls/ceiling/floor. To be more accurate, throughly stirred in to water before plaster is added. If you try to add the fibres to a ready mixed bucket of plaster, you end up with balls of fluff peppering the finished plaster.

For those who have been searching for the same answer and may come across this thread.

To summarise, I had my whole house plastered in winter and have not added any heating at all to the house, I left windows open were possible and others on night latch, and all is fine and dry! No cracks!

    Hope this helps :)
