nForce PML / TRACE DR Advice Please !

Good evening
I drafted this after a forum Search and then saw the newbie sticky. I'll post this and then ready the sticky, but looks like it may take some time! Also it's not a straight forward tale....
I received this letter in the post:

Looking at the dates I was in Bakewell on the date of the alleged offence. I clearly remember as it was the first day of a half term break with the family. We got to Bakewell, tried to get in a car park, but had a height restriction barrier, which we hit much to the annoyance of the very rude parking attendant. Three point turned out and parked at an alternate car park round the corner which I definitely paid for.
I have never seen the originally referred to letter / communication, but after racking my brains not sure if they are looking to "fine" me for hitting the height restriction barrier (it did swing open) or non payment of parking charges (which i definitly paid)!
Either way I'm not sure how to proceed. Can I go back to nForce and ask for clarification on what the "fine" is for or ask TRACE?
I don't want to fall foul of any incorrect procedure / challenge but equally don't want to pay £160 without knowing what it's for or worse still further charges, court or CCJ - it's all a bit overwhelming so any advise would be hugely appreciated. Thank you !

Have you had anything else through the post or is this the first you know about any ticket?
Is your V5c correct and up to date? Don't guess actually look at the thing.0 -
Hi, thanks for the quick reply and sorting the link (it wouldn't allow me to post with the full URL)
First off yes the V5c is correct.
I haven't seen anything else in the post. This is the first I've seen of it.
That said we have had builders in the house for almost five months and they sometimes get the post from the postman and put it to one side. We had some they put aside for us and got mixed up with some drawings and paperwork of theirs and we got it about two weeks after it arrived. That was well before the "incident" but not inconceivable something similar may have happened. I have asked them and they are adamant it hasn't happened since the last time.0 -
Firstly stop panicking. This is nothing but a standard debt collectors letter which is detailed in the Newbies thread you have found.
It might be worth writing to nForce and checking what address they have for you. Do not admit being the driver under any circumstances at this stage.0 -
Thank you
They have a contact form on their website, I could use that and the reference details from the Trace letter to obtain a copy of the original letter?0 -

Thank you I shall take a look0

SAR emailed to both parties - thank you0

Hi nForce have sent me this (copy of the original notice I never received) and advised the SAR info will follow in the next 48 hours
Initial thoughts are the discrepancy that in one place it refers to car parking charges (I didn't enter the car park) and in another breaking the height barrier!
I did "knock" the barrier and nudge it open but it certainly wasn't "broken" - there was no damage to the bikes on the roof. We even spoke to the parking attendant who was grumpy and rude but nothing was said before we 3-point turned away and parked in the next car park!
Any advice how to proceed would be hugely appreciated
Thank you !0 -
correct , they should be taking you to court for damaging property
now armed with the reason for the ticket , I would contact the DVLA and ask them the reason they gave your info out
parking Cos use form V888/3 or electronic method , both the form and electronic are for PARKING , not damaging property0 -
Indeed. That isnt something they can request details for using KADOE either, as thats only for PARKING issues.0
