No spare tyre or Repair kit

When I changed my car in the summer, I went to see a car advertised on Gumtree. It was a private sale and the seller was quite open about the fact that the car had no spare wheel. It had a spare tyre, but it was not on a wheel. I cannot imagine why the wheel disappeared. I also cannot imagine why the seller was putting his car on the market without a spare wheel.
There were a several minor things wrong with the car, but the missing spare wheel probably was the deciding factor in me not even making an offer for the car.
It was a model which came with a spare wheel from the manufacturers and I cannot think why this car's spare wheel was missing. Are people stealing spare wheels?0 -
Externally mounted either underneath or back door have been stolen for years, so nothing new there. If you look and the rear mounted wheel and tyre is not covered you may see a locking wheel nut fitted and under body a padlock or similar.
A previously purchased second hand car came with no jack (yes I was aware), but it had the spare wheel and tyre. An E-bay purchase sorted that along with a second spare wheel and tyre for a few pounds.0 -

The spare wheel in the car I went to see was in the boot. I can only think that the missing wheel replaced a wheel that hit a kerb. I am glad that I did not buy the car as the car pulled very slightly to the left when I braked. Possibly something damaged with a kerb hit?0 -
It wouldn't surprise me at all that a wheelchair-modified van didn't have any spare wheel provision. Whether it had a flat-fix can when new or not, you could probably find out by asking the converter.
But even if they say "Yes, it did", that doesn't mean the used-car seller is under any obligation to provide one. The time to ask them was before purchase, not after.
How much hassle do you want to go to, when a kit is <£30?0 -
It’s a VW caddy maxi with a wheel chair ramp, not sure about the run flat tyres!

They don't have a spare as there's nowhere to keep them on a Caddy due to the lowering floor. There's no legal obligation to provide an alternative to a spare tyre. As it's a used car it was responsibility to enquire before buying.
