V5C has wrong colour and I need to make a claim?

Hi all,
I had a car accident earlier today, and I'd like to make a claim on my insurance, however I've just noticed that the V5C has the colour of the car as white when it's actually black. It's been black since I bought it and this wasn't mentioned when I had the MOT for the car done in August.
Is my insurance now invalid? I hadn't noticed this error when I purchased the insurance, and I want to send the V5C off to the DVLA to correct it but since I also need to make a claim I'm worried that the insurance company will tell me to do one.
What are my options? Do I need to worry? Can this be explained to the insurance company and they'll understand?
Thanks very much all.

What are your options? Ask your insurance company.
Probably just paint the damaged area white as that is what the chassis number will bring up.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Thanks both, I'll ask the insurance company when I get in touch today.
