Boiler leaking

So I hired a gas safe engineer to install a new boiler on Friday, it is a Baxi 400 15kW heat only boiler. Old boiler didn't ignite, was 15 years old but had power. He installed it in 5 hours but it then failed to turn on. I have a Boilermate 2000 and I believe the live feed is connected from the Boilermate down to the boiler. This cable sticks out from the wall, and the engineer must have damaged it when he was screwing in the boiler. He then calls out an electrician and he pretty much confirms that the live feed is not working anymore. The electrician then gives two options, either have a cable from the boilermate to go outside of the house and then back to the boiler downstairs, or having to go through walls inside of the house which would be a hassle. The gas engineer then says that I have to pay for this?I agreed to have the cable go outside, so he did that this morning. I was at work and then calls me to say that the boiler started leaking.. It seems that he didn't solder the copper pipes properly and the seals from the copper pipes to the boiler are not working. I then called back the gas engineer and he said that he can only come in on Monday. What should I do? So I just find another plumber to fix it, I have already paid half the amount he quoted which was £1300.

  • Monday is only 2 days away, just catch any water leaking and wait for him to attend.

Bringing another gas engineer into the frame will only complicate things :)

Especially if something else goes wrong, they'll each deny responsibility and you'll be paying a 3rd engineer to fix the fault that No.1 or No.2 caused!
