    I use Google docs and Google sheets etc.

    It is completely free and everything is done and stored online so can be accessed from home or school computers or even smartphones or tablets.

    Compatibility is fine as office documents can be uploaded and kept as office docs if required and you can download the Google docs as office docs or pdf etc. as required.
