Windscreen replacement insurance costs

I need to get my front screen replaced which can be done for the £100 xs cost (although I will look for cheaper). Apparently it doesn't affect my ncb but does it increase the overall insurance price?

Of course. Any money they pay out they want to claw back.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

I was hoping for a monetary amount based on experience of similar claims.

Then that’s the question you should have asked instead of:
but does it increase the overall insurance price?

Whils't the current replies have been stunningly helpful, I'm hoping for a monetary amount based on experience of similar claims.
  • Why dont you get two dummy quotes online, one with and one without a windscreen claim and see how much difference, if any, there is in premiums quoted?
When I've claimed for a windscreen, I've had to declare it for between 3 and 5 years afterwards but I have no way of knowing how much difference it made as I never tried not declaring it.

Surely its gonna be dependant on insurer, type of policy, current risk profile, type of vehicle and assciated insurance group and current premium?

In my experience it has no noticeable effect on the renewal premium. premiums always vary from year to year, so it's impossible to say exactly. But I have never noticed an insurance company trying to claw the money back after a simple window claim.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • £15.63 difference :)

I had 3 screen claims in short order last year thanks to kids thinking it wasvfun to throw stones at them.

Renewal came through at £220 but didn't mention the claims (I'd kind if assumed they'd know!) So phoned them up and pointed it out, the 3 claims increased it by about £22 to £242 and some pence overall.
