Life assurance declaration (retrospective)

Morning all,
I took out a life assurance policy a few months back. I've recently taken out another (IP) policy with the same company and when comparing the declaration documents I am concerned I may have inadvertently missed something off the life policy declaration (question worded differently).
Basically the question was if I had ever received treatment or counselling for a mental health condition. I answered no, however I now recall visiting my GP a few years back for low mood. There was however no action taken, no treatment, follow up, diagnosis or referral.
I am just wondering what everyone's thoughts as to whether this should have been declared and if so, should I be getting in touch with the insurer (unsure if you can retrospectively declare?). I'm not really sure if it does need to be declared, but wondered if the definition of 'counselling' could be expanded to include a GP visit?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

It will be in your GP records as such , no treatment or counseling , which is your answerEx forum ambassador

On the face of it, I would agree with Browntoas answer above.
However, I would still contact the insurance company to let them know. I suspect they won't have a problem with it at all but it's better to know now rather than after paying premiums for 20 years and needing the money.
Plus the fact, it will give you peace of mind as it will always be at the back of your mind that there might be an issue.0 -
Sometimes the questions will differ depending on which product you are applying for. Is this with L&G? They ask far more questions for an income protection application than a life cover only application so maybe the questions wasn't asked in such a way on the life cover app?0
