Nationwide Member Card - Extra Checks?

Evening all, been lurking here a while but never posted. Always seen great advice so hoping you may be able to assist me too. Tried to find an existing thread but all seemed pretty old and didn’t quite match.
So today I did the soft search with Nationwide via the app for their 15 month balance transfer and purchase 0% member credit card offer. (19.9% representative)
The soft search said that they ‘may’ be able to offer me a card (up to £3,100 limit) but I’d need to proceed to a full credit check.
I went ahead and was accepted almost straight away with the full £3,100 limit and a 24.9% apr. The message actually said ‘we’ve approved your application’.
I clicked continue and it asked me to set up direct debit details etc. Once I had added all the requested details, I clicked finish and then it said ‘We're just checking your application to see if we can offer you this credit card. We'll be in touch within the next 7 to 10 working days to let you know whether we need further information and if we can offer you this product’.
I’m confused because prior to this, it definitely said I was approved. Is this a pretty standard message or am I at risk of decline? What actually happens next? I’m just concerned because a full hard search will now show on my report for nothing if it all goes wrong.
Many thanks in advance

There is very little that can be said to reassure you at this stage but surely you are more concerned about actually getting the card or not than about the fact that there has been a single hard search of your credit files.
In view of your being told that you had been accepted and having been asked to set up the direct debit, I would imagine that in all probability you are accepted unless something seriously untoward comes to light during their final checks.
I assume that you meet the eligibility criteria and hold an account with Nationwide.0 -
Hi Ben,
Yes absolutely want to get the card but just feel a little hoodwinked by them if they decline after clearly displaying an acceptance message.
I have held a current account with them for just over a year and meet all eligibility reqs. Nothing out of ordinary on credit file except one over limit the other month due to a fee being applied that I wasn’t expecting. Surely this would have been picked up on their full credit check they’d already done anyway though?0 -
You have probably been accepted by the computer but that late payment probably just needs a looking over by a human being to rubber stamp it.0

Not by a computer. It will now be passed to a real person to look at.
Computer check will just be on their own internal checks.Life in the slow lane0
