  • Good morning and happy Friday everyone,

Yesterday evening went to the vague and boring plan I had. Had my weekly catch up with my gran for 45 minutes, made my dinner, done the ironing, watched the footie and finished making some Viennese whirls, which have turned out quite nice actually. Was in bed for 10 and the politics chat on the radio soon put me to sleep.

Facetime with my step-bro in South Korea this morning and then off to the gym. I'm still undecided on whither I am going to attend my friends boxing event tonight. If I do, I'll be taking the car, probably going on my own and will end up buying a drink or a snack. If I don't go, I'll save the money and I'd go a run. I'll see how I feel come the end of my work day.

My weekend is looking pretty standard aside from a date with a new lass on Saturday night. I'm driving down to Chester for a couple of drinks. She seems a nice girl, actually too nice, so I'm waiting to see what the catch is. Hopefully there isn't one. I'll spill the beans on Monday morning to you all.

EDIT: after reading everyone's posts regarding the election, I appear to be the only one who's.... less enthusiastic. Don't get me wrong, I did vote, and I try to keep up, but it all so messy.

    Have a good weekend everyone!

Good morning and thank you for starting the thread taff and tru, thank you for the song.

OH stayed up until 3 to watch election results, Hester my approach is the same as yours. I didn't sleep all that well but not as bad as the previous night. So now well both be tired and grumpy but for different reasons, his will be purely from tiredness.

I am having a visit from the police this morning (no, not in trouble, they are picking up 34 trauma teddies) and then going into my former office for a friend's retirement lunch. I have made 2 cakes to take, a lemon drizzle and a cherry cake but I think the cherries have sunk, it seems to happen whatever I do. Then a bit more shopping as it will be easy to get to where I want to go from there, the bus goes right past.

I've got a blackbird and a big fat pigeon eating the remains of a home made spelt loaf now and am getting daily visits from one robin and sometimes two - I always thought that they were wildy territorial but they can't be.

Well done Steve regarding the job

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Afternoon all,

Very cold here, not going for a walk with OH, hip playing up so will just cook the Christmas pudding and cake.......think I was a little heavy- handed with the soaking rum for the cake so hopefully it will burn off in the oven! DD4 and family are coming for Christmas day, so I have delegated to her the task of making the trifle ( OHs favourite pudding) and mince pies

Glad to see that the UK election result was a definite one, don't know what the turnout was......I get very annoyed with non voters,in my opinion they have no right to grumble at the result, I would make it compulsory to vote.

Good luck with the date Speky.

    Thanks for the carols tru

Tree still not up here.......lights are on big outside tree and that's it. We have two small trees in pots, one of them will come in for decoration.......OH is busy with the many sets of lights, there is always at least one that doesn't work so he has them all over the floor, sparks flying at his colourful language!

Glad to hear that you are recovering well Gers.

Not knitting at present as managed to cut my left index finger deeply the other day, can't manage to operate without a plaster.

    Enjoy the weekend, take care

    Hello all
Went to bed just after 10 and slept through everything :j. Mr Fix It got back up at 3.30am to watch the results . I am hoping this result will send ripples through to our WAG to stop playing politics and actually do something other than argue about the name of the assembly . Gets down off soap box :rotfl:.
We have been to collect Mr Fix It's script from the surgery and have it filled in at the chemist. On then to town to our small F Foods, then to Tesco to buy a Xmas bag and the guinness book of records for the DGS. That's his last present and I only need to get DGD a reading book and they are both done. Only Mr Fix It to sort now .
We called in to check on DD's house on the way home as there were some suspicious carol singers about last night who arrived en masse in a van. They sent alarm bells around the nearby houses and the police were notified.
This afternoon I will fill the DW and put it on, then it will be feet up for the rest of the day. There is some curry left from yesterday so that's tea sorted.
Tru there are so many of us who are having memory troubles we should organize a day trip, but then would we remember to turn up on the right day or at the right time :rotfl:
MMarie ouch, hope the finger heals soon.
Speky is it time to get the hat out again ? I think mine is on a bit of elastic........ only kidding :rotfl:. I hope the new lady is a keeper, honestly I believe some people really are that nice.

Take care all. Hugs to all today.
    nan xx

    Afternoon!

I did manage to snatch a few more ZZZZs before starting my day. My feet are done, the chiropodist found a corn on the sole of my left foot which has been caused by doing most of the weight-bearing for the last four weeks. Never had a corn before!

Shopping was quick and easy with a little coffee / cake interlude. We picked up the new pillow for DM from Marks and then collected her meds from the pharmacy. My lovely friend then did a couple of jobs in the flat for me. He's changed a lamp bulb in the kitchen and put together the new Ikea floor lamp too. He's also tied my resistance band to the leg of my bed so I can do my harder exercises. He's such a placid and interesting friend and will do anything, I'm so lucky to have him around.

SNOOZER - well done to Chris on the new job :j

MEANMARIE - I hope you heal soon.

    TRU - thanks for Frosty!

Time for some reading now. :j

    Hi everyone,
Its been raining hard since it woke me around 6. DH has had to admit defeat and stay at home today although he kept checking the weather & he's only just got changed out of his work clothes ;) We're just having some peace and quiet before the DGC arrive.
I'm making chicken satay for tea. No pudding, these menfolk have eaten a full box of biscuits since the delivery yesterday morning  I might make a cake if DGD wants to, the only trouble is she likes 'making her own recipe up' and I dont like wasting ingredients. She got lucky the 1st time she tried it but last Saturdays attempt, although edible, was a strange biscuity concoction so she's agreed to follow one next time :rotfl:
    Love that song Tru thanks
Snoozer- great news for Chris - hope it works out well.
    Speky- enjoy your date
Have a good weekend folks x

    Good evening everyone :hello:

It's been quite a busy day here with my nurse coming in this morning to dress my heel (still have the remnants of a pressure sore from when I was in hospital).
This afternoon the blind fitter came and put up three blinds for us. Lee has a very nice scarlet roller blind now, our room has a pretty vertical blind in sage and the kitchen has a really nice flowery roller blind which will do lots to save my dignity when I have to have a wash at the sink.
At 4 o'clock I had a phone call to say that the bed was finally being picked up and taken away so we have our dining room back. It looks so big in here now but I will miss being able to have a lie down and put my legs up in the afternoon.

Steve has done a fantastic job of moving all the stuff back to the right place but it has made me realise that we have far too many possessions and so I will be doing a big declutter next year, especially as we want to decorate the whole house. I think Steve is going to wish he was back at work for a rest :D.

I am really tired now so I will love you and leave you. Hope you have all had a nice day, take care xx
