O/S Daily Friday 13th December 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Well, I am still up [which is a marvel in itself] anxiously watching the results, hoping against hope. I've very rarely become so passionate about anything political but this time.. I fear I am doomed to be disappointed...
Anyway. Crossed fingers worked, there were no political arguments during dinner. Then we introduced them to the delights of Derek which provoked laughter and tears...which was OK. And we discovered there was a special we'd missed so we watched that when we got home.
Mostly today I will be sleeping from staying up late, tidying and posting cards.
And we finished the soup, still made my nose run, was still lovely, That'll be one in my cooking arsenal for the future.
Have a good day everyone...

Good morning!

Woke for a wee and now listening to Five Live whilst trying to sleep again though it's probably not going to work.

All three deliveries arrived yesterday, the new lamp will get put together later today and DM's new mini flask for overnight milk is already in use.

Today I'm going to the chiropodist as my feet need attention but I'm still not allowed to bend my hip past 90 degrees. After that there will be a small shopping trip.

Yesterday I managed to wash a pair of DM's trousers which had a paper hankie in the pocket - what a nightmare it was. Luckily there were only two items in the machine but even so it took me ages to get all the bits off. It was easier to drop it all on the floor and vacuum it up when dry. At least it stopped me from being so bored for a while. :rotfl::rotfl:

My eyes want to close again, perhaps sleep is coming back to me.

Happy Friday to all.

Morning everyone

taff - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Dark and cold start to the day here, was horrible yesterday especially in the afternoon, didn't get properly light.

Dinner last night was beef stew and dumplings, mash, carrots and broc - all eaten and enjoyed. Tonight DH is having omelette and skinny chips, DS1 and myself maybe something similar.

Yesterday I was reasonably productive, and got done most of what I wanted, so will be heading out to the SM first thing. I'll be trying to get done what needs to be today. I'm working again tomorrow so will try to get a bit of chill time later.

Keep safe and well x

Morning All

I'm feeling better this morning but can't go to work (48 hours from last episode of whatever) so will use the day to catch up on housework, etc.
I'll also miss the work night out but not feeling like going anyway.

Two of the living room throws are in the WM, bedding next. The bathroom could do with a good scrub so will get that done before I go in the shower.

I have a shopping list on the go ready for tomorrow then it will just be fresh stuff for next weekend - we're having Christmas day next Sunday as DS2 and partner, DS1 and the DGC will be here. DD doesn't live very far away so they will come over too. Thinking of us all dressing up for a nativity photo with baby Sophie in the starring role!

It looks like it may be a decent day, will get the house aired too to get rid of any bugs hanging about.

Hugs to those in need, have a happy Friday, take care. XX

Morning all

Not raining here for the first time for what seems like weeks, its meant to be a sunny day today I do hope so then things might start to dry out a bit

Off to work today but its Friday and we have the clients first Christmas party this afternoon, the main one is next Friday.

Book club tonight and we are having chili and rice cooked for us which will be lovely, Im sure much wine will be consumed too.

Shopping tomorrow and Im going to buy the tree too and get that up over the weekend, I also need to write the cards but Im only sending to neighbors and one good friend and a couple of relatives so not many to do.

OH will fend for himself food wise tonight there is plenty of things to choose from so he wont go hungry.

Camelot glad you are feeling better xx

Have good days all xx

• Good morning, and thanks for starting Taff.

Stayed up later than usual last night watching events unfold, then gave in and went to bed shortly after midnight.

Got quite a bit done yesterday, but I've "lost" a small present somewhere, I must find it today. I had been keeping all evidence of Christmas presents out of Dgd's way, as she thinks (quite rightly when you're 6) that everything comes from Santa. I'll be glad to get it all sorted and distributed, I'm so disorganised this year. It's not even as if I have to go to work!!

It'll all get done though, I'm just annoyed with myself.

Just doing general stuff round the house today, DH will help.

Glad you're starting to recover Camelot, don't do too much. I like the nativity photo idea!

Hope everyone has a good Friday
Take care folks

Morning :santa2:

I keep having to write notes to myself, my brain seems incapable of retaining information at the moment, lol. I feel like I need resetting or something - I quite fancy a couple of days by the sea, by myself. Wrap up warm to amble along beaches then nip into a cosy coffee shop every hour or so. Should do the trick :D

I've got paper, tape, etc. ready on my table upstairs so I can wrap gifts as they're delivered. I'll write my cards today, they're also out and ready. I need to find places for a couple of singing Christmas cuddly toys. My decorations start out looking quite posh, then I ruin it by adding singing things, cute things and some tat :D

First though, I need to walk Scamp. Then do the boring things – I haven't vacuumed for two days and there's a couple of loads of washing to do. The bathroom is clean but the shower door needs a serious descaling. I'm hoping there's pizza in the freezer, I fancy that today while watching something Christmassy. Maybe Fred Claus or Die Hard - I don't want a Christmas argument but Yes It Is! :rotfl:

For the first time for about thirty years I went to bed after the election prediction was announced. Probably just as well because we're going to Laura's today. I'm going with her to Esben's hearing test to make sure that the antibiotics he was on just after he was born didn't affect his hearing. I'm also preparing a Chinese banquet because Chris and Crystal are also coming after work.

It was a long day yesterday, we left at 7.30 and had the worst journey ever but were then seen by the clinic in a timely fashion. We then had to wait until 1.30 for Steve's treatment so we went and had lunch and to get a few bits in town before returning. Unfortunately we then had to wait 3 hours because they were short staffed. The journey home was another nightmare with the rain and lots of traffic and the satnav kept diverting us, once down a dead end. As a result most of my plans went out the window and we bought a portion of chips on the way home and had egg, chips and beans for dinner.

We did have some good news though because Chris was told that he'd got the job he'd applied for which will mean a slightly easier commute for him.
