JBW Baliffs increasing cost

Long story short I appealed a parking fine and lost. By the time I had finished my numerous appeal the fine had gone up to £158 and had been passed onto a firm called JBW, This was paid on payday. I recently received a text from JBW so I e-mailed them to say I have paid the £158 in full. They replied to my e-mail showing an outstanding balance of £235 after taking into account the £158 paid. They said I didn’t pay in time.
Are they allowed to do this?
Someone has come round to clamp my car today but luckily I was out.
Any advice is much appreciated
Thanks in advance

Allowed to do what? Clamp or increase the bill?
This is a council parking ticket where it will escalate to clamping if you do not pay. And since there are over 1mn of these parking tickets passed out to bailiffs each year, it is a certainty they can do this.Unlike some here, I am not omniscient. If I am wrong correct me. I won't take offence.

I meant that they can increase the fine when I have agree a time to pay. Just because they do it 1million times doesn’t mean it’s right0

This sounds very much like a council ticket. For the best advice you are better off posting here http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=300
