Credit score ruined by Severn Trent

Options
hi everyone , it’s my first time posting , hope you can help.
As stated in the title my credit score has been ruined by Severn Trent .
Backstory
The account use to be in my fathers name , he was having a long running dispute over payments , basically Severn Trent had somehow linked our water meter to the next door property and we were paying for the water for both houses without knowing . When my father found he disputed the payments and refused to make any more payments until it was sorted . Sadly he passed 2 months ago before it could get sorted . I managed to get it sorted and moved the account over to my name. Severn Trent acknowledged it was their mistake and cleared the account and refunded any extra payments made. Unfortunately the late payments which were not made have made their way into my credit file . Please could you help me

If Severn Trent have admitted they were at fault then you should ring them and get them to remove the late payments from your credit file.

Shouldn't take more than a quick phone call.

Yes I did that today soon as i realised my credit file was affected , they were very flippant about it and told someone will call in 5 days.

Late payments from somebody else's account should not have 'made their way into your credit file' as presumably you opened a new account.
Does this water company actually report accounts to CRA's? Which CRA is showing these late payments on your credit file.
And your meaningless 'credit score' is not ruined. It has dropped from what to what?
  • It wasn’t a new account They just changed over my name to the account . My ratings gone from mid 800 to low 600.
  • Wait for them to call.

Pay no attention to your score and rating - lenders don’t and neither should you.
  • I kept on getting declined for a simple transfer from my credit card which prompted to check my credit file. There’s nothing else on there that could be causing an issue .

Surely they are not allowed to post missed payments to yourself when the account was in your fathers name at that time, regardless if its been moved over!

What do you regard as a simple transfer?

It was around £1000 which has never been an issue before .

If you have an existing customer balance/money transfer offer on your credit card there is no credit check involved in making the transfer.
