Item not ready - cancelled. Am I liable

I ordered dentures from a "specialist". Paid deposit. The upper was late but acceptable. The lower was not ready 2 months after agreed date, so I cancelled. The maker wants to charge for both sets - over £8000. Am I liable? I will pay for the upper but he won't itemise the bill.

Did you send him a "Time is of the essence" letter? Time scales can come and go but there are procedures to follow before you can just cancel a contract.
Have you itemised every time you pushed for a resolution, got and emails or texts telling him the wait is unacceptable that were ignored? You actions of how you tried to resolve the situation are important to any case he may bring against you.0
