Blackbox insurance failed appointments - can I claim a discount?

Hi,

I bought my first car at the end of October and chose to take out an Admiral Littlebox policy as it was the cheapest, wanted to get my premiums down by demonstrating good driving etc.

I booked my first appointment to take place 1/2 weeks after I insured the car and picked it up, this was cancelled last minute due to the engineer being off sick. I rebooked another appointment but unfortunately this coincided with my first week in a new job - as with any new role I wasn't 100% sure what I'd be doing for my first few days and it turned out the day I had booked for I was on training in a place where there is limited parking, so couldn't give them an exact address as to where my car would be parked and had to cancel the appointment. Luckily due to the first appointment being cancelled they (begrudgingly) granted an extension to get another third appointment.

Today I had my third installation appointment booked in and the engineer couldn't do it because it was !!!!ing it down with rain (not due to stop) and he didn't want to damage the electrics in the car (or get soaked himself!)

After all of this faff I'm considering whether to just pay the extra £100 odd and have Admiral's standard insurance - I work for social services so having to keep entire half day slots free is tricky! My question is does anyone have any experience of this with Admiral and having a few installation apps cancelled? Do I have any leg to stand on with trying to claim a discount from them for the inconvenience? Thanks in advance

  • Who knows? Would think the first two apts cancel each other out and the third one . . you could have told the engineer you weren't bothered if the rain permanently killed your electrics.

Put your claim in, see how it goes . .

    Wow
I would happily pay £100 not to have my driving monitored and then possibly having my policy cancelled if some jackass deems my driving to be not up to scratch

Well worth £100 not to have big brother breathing down your neck.

Call them to complain & see if you can get the policy changed to no black box with a discount for inconvenience to date.

Even if they don't budge its £100 well spent!
Was it really "everybody" that was Kung Fu fighting ???

Agree with the above completely. £100 is well worth it to avoid the potential hassle that can occur with these black boxes.

People have had policies cancelled due to inaccurate GPS reporting them as speeding at 60mph+ on 20mph residential streets that run close to, and parallel to national speed limit roads
