Comments

  • Why are you specifically asking landlords?

Isn't it only the little people that pay taxes?

Any of the following well known landlords?

    Gary Lineker
    David Beckham
    Jimmy Carr
    Gary Barlow
    Vince Cable
    Kerry Coketona
    Jordan
    Michael Caine
    Anne Robinson
    Chris Moyles
    Lester Piggott

Because this is a property forum of course!

The people you mention may be landlords for all I know, but

    a) may well not be and
    b) probably don't hang out on the moneysaving website....:rotfl:

I don't know, are they well known landlords?

I doubt Lester Piggott is a well-known landlord, but please feel free to prove me wrong with evidence of what property he currently owns.

I 'ates crooks 'n cheats, be they landlord, agent, tenant, MP etc etc etc

Anyone grassing up any tax-cheat, whoever & whatever that tax-cheat be, is OK by me.

    Artful: Landlord: Paying his tax.

This is a stupid argument. Two wrongs don't make a right. I doubt any of the famous individuals you name are involved in blatant tax fraud.

And of course all the "little landlords" added together is an enormous base. There is hundreds of billions of pounds of property wealth in the UK.

  • Absolutely agree with the OP and don't forget your accountant isn't a mind reader either .

I forgot an account I had , well didn't forget but forgot to submit the taxable thingy you get at the end of each year

I sent everything (under duress) to the accountant as per the norm at about the 10th time of them asking and left them to do the jiggery pokery stuff.

A while later I had a letter from the lovely HMRC about tax owing that I hadn't declared.. accountant went bat !!!! crazy and then had to argue on my behalf it was a completely honest mistake, which it was ( I thought I was being savvy squirrelling money away for the future but not informing accountant)

I paid the tax straight away and thankfully a small fine and wrap on the knuckles

Pay your taxes , we all need that extra

No because I don't owe any. I submit my tax return every year usually around June a good 7 months early.
When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.

Are those people listed landlords who have not declared their rental income and have therefore evading tax or have you listed them because they have been outed as tax avoiders? Tax avoidance is legal, tax evasion is not. Tax avoidance is a legal way to save money and this is a money saving website. In fact there's a whole board dedicated to cutting tax.
